It's slowing down. But it depends on your skill set. It's just becoming evident people don't have skills that are wanted. If you have skills, use them for yourself.

Labor Participation Rate is not great. We still have around 7 million able-bodied working-age men not working. And this at a time we have an aging population.

Job hopping is not dying. Just that people do it less right now because we are in a recession. Those unemployment numbers are undercounted!

I just got a 12 percent pay increase and will be getting another 3 percent increase in another month, they are trying really hard to retain staff.

The labor market looks fantastic for those that don’t participate in it or comment on it or are currently employed.

It’s hard to switch now. Employers want you to have done the exact job before to a ridiculous level. Like literally the same thing, which is often impossible. Salaries are stuck in 2019 and if you mention housing costs or taxes or inflation you get treated like a whiner. It’s ridiculous

Seems like companies are looking for lazy and complacent employees. High volume employees aren’t necessarily valued anymore.

After the plandemic, we didn't see a rise in jobs. People were going back to work from unconstitutional lockdowns. Today in 2024, the reason we see a "stable" work economy is because inflation so high noone can leave their current job OR theybworking multiple jobs just to not be homeless.

You can't trust the jobs reports, especially in an election year. Those numbers are cooked 9 ways to Sunday. Suffice it to say the job market is halfway between "stable" and "bad".

Less people are switching jobs because the market is terrible... they don't pay enough and also the hiring process can take 12 months or more is not that employees don't want to switch is just that is impossible to switch...

Define "job hopping?" For some employers that one job change in a decade while for others it's two jobs in a year. It's hard to gauge how to anticipate what an HR department will perceive. It's also wise to "job hop" when you're not getting anywhere at a particular position, or you find yourself in a toxic environment after just a few months. I've lived through both scenerios and with the standing advice of "never dis your former employer" still in play, especially for those who leave a toxic environment. I had to finesse the last time when I went job hunting as I quit the toxic employer before I found a new job.

This may sound like a naive question on my part. Why is the government held responsible for creating jobs in the private sector? I sometimes feel like businesses, regardless of whether they’re small, medium or large, blame the government for where they fall short like creating jobs. If small, medium or large businesses want to create jobs, they can do so regardless of what the government might be doing. I believe privately-held and publicly-traded companies drive the so-called economy. The government is responsible for the laws that all of us must abide by. Am I wrong?
