The best boogie man vs bad guys has to be berserk
ОтветитьFrieren's on NG+
ОтветитьIn my eyes Frieren feels like a roadmovie. Yeah there are fights... but they are not really important for the story. It is all about the experiences this party makes on their way and the bonds they build. And Frieren, even if she is clearly a mentor to the two "kids", also learns much from them and finally is able to understand so many things her former friends did, when she wasn't able to really feel it back then. I hope the second season won 't loose her way.
ОтветитьI am absolutely amazed that you mentioned these new movies when there was an anime character who was the "boogey-man" but light hearted. His name is Vash. They called him the Humanoid Typhoon. He has a large $$ bounty on his head.
ОтветитьGreat show.
ОтветитьI’m sold!!! Your video was wonderful…I learned something, saw a character in a new light, and discovered a series I will now be watching. I have subscribed to your channel and eagerly look forward to watching more of your content.
Ответитьthe scariest Frieren was during the second test of the mage exam where all of them had to face her clone.
Ответитьwtf.. Vash the stampede?! You did a fucken anime video breakdown, and you didn't fucken mention VASH BEFORE FUCKEN BATMAN!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!?!?!
Ответитьi love this video and they way you explained everything!!
Ответитьbut what if your main character isn't exactly the boogeyman?
ОтветитьOne thing I notice is that even Himmel, Eisen, and Heiter are all like Frieren. Each has multiple imperfection and they constantly banter and call each other out on it. The thing is due to Frieren's aging as an elf, she's going to take time to be more immature and undisciplined like how people are in their 20's and 30's, while Himmel and Heiter age normally and reaches maturity faster than her, with Eisen in third place.
Another aspect of this which I've mentioned to people in the past discussing real life idols and historical figures, is that the hero's, idols, or historic figures we have who we place on a different pedestal than normal human beings, are just humans themselves. They may find themselves masters of extraordinary circumstances, capable of great feats within the battlefield, but when it comes to human aspects, like love, relationships, social interaction, hygene, educations, and other things, they are average or fail spectacularly.
And it's OK.
Where is this?
I want to see all of it.
Baba yaga
Now frieren isn't what u call the boogeyman
SHE WAS DA 1 2 SEND 2 KILL THE F!@$% BOOGEYMAN
Cool channel. Kinda like VaatiVidya's but for anime.
ОтветитьSolid analysis and a nice voice! I'm sold, i look forward to more from you!
Ответитьthis reminded me of something I really like about the first Venom movie. Several times they play up horror and monster movie tropes (Like the heavily armed soldiers in a cloud of mist getting picked off one by one) except the monster is the protagonist. He's not quite the 'boogeyman', but the protagonist is a monster, and they play into those tropes and I loved it.
Ответитьvideos that leave you saying "uh what?"
ОтветитьYou're right I should rewatch Frieren
Ответитьi never thought i would hear someone draw a line between Frieren and batman and agree but here we are
ОтветитьAnother excellent example of character duality done right is Legoshi from Beastars.
ОтветитьThe Frieren vs Frieren battle was the moment her idea that "ordinary offensive magic is enough" was also shown, she is teacher who secretly has 3 health bars.
ОтветитьSo... John Wick can beat Freiren?
ОтветитьFrieren is not a character of duality, but a character of multiplicity.
ОтветитьThe one moment I feel that really puts you in the Demons' shoes with Frieren staring you down is when Denken and his party encounter her clone in the labyrinth. Its appearance portrays in no uncertain terms how unwinnable the encounter is.
ОтветитьFlamme taught her to deal with demons. Himmel taught her to deal with people.
ОтветитьVery relaxing and insightful, love having videos like this on while I’m doing housework or stretching. Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьThe scene of freiren beating Aura is what got me into the show in the first place. It was crazy and i loved it. Such a good show
Ответитьwhat music in background?
ОтветитьShe is the eye of the storm, raging power all around and her, calm in the center controlling it
ОтветитьLove your channel dude, keep up the great work.
ОтветитьA doctor will kill a venomous spider without hesitation or remorse because they know the harm the spider can do.
ОтветитьThe direct translation for Frieren is actually to "freeze" or "to be/feel cold". I think that alone adds even more depth than simply "cold"
ОтветитьYour short video essays have convinced me to watch Frieren at last.
I was put off before, partly because I don't like misery parade stories in any media and apparently I have misread Frieren as being one, but mostly because my (until recently) daily discord hangout was full of sad boys being creepily horny on main for it. Having seen it discussed in terms of content and delivery, in terms of pacing, structure, and artistic decisions, I'm now thoroughly looking forward to giving it a go.
Good timing, too. I have a lot of boring knitting going on right now, and I need to wake up my JP-EN brain after a long hibernation. So, thank you for the essays! They've piqued my interest in an anime I once dismissed.
I love how you can see in the eyes of the characters when they have bloodlust (notice how the demon "ambassador" points it out in that episode where she gets arrested by the guards) and you can see that in other characters too, Frieren switches into that mode and out of it as needed, but certain characters like Ubel and Serie are always at "half mast" eyes, which reflects their state quite well, Serie is a war mage, all she knows is that magic is for dominance, Ubel is well, just evil
ОтветитьThe only duality I see in Frieren's character is the sudden switch in decision making, ranging from innocent elf gathering flowers and being amazed at basic emotions to being a 1000+yo omnipotent god when the plot needs it.
ОтветитьThe best examples of duality are characters who's eyes are always closed and always calm but when they open their eyes, you know sh💩t is about happen.
ОтветитьI can't wait to finish your series once I have finished watching the series and I can enjoy your videos free from spoilers (I'm at episode 10 now so thought it was spoiler free enough to watch this video 😅)
ОтветитьShe's not kuudere, she's autistic.
ОтветитьFrieren does not translate to cold but to freezing, often used to imply one lacks warmth for oneself rather than being the cold one oneself
ОтветитьAh, yes, the duality of frieren, the hunter of demons, and the prey of mimics
Ответитьmost goated anime oat
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the anime
Ответитьthe one thing i thought was a bit odd is the demon not realizing she should be scared of Frieren even she doesnt look strong 1: they call her slayer. 2: SHE KILLED THE BIGGEST BADDEST THEY'VE EVER KNOWN! does the demon seriously think shes stronger then the big bad was?
edit: though i get it too shes over confident yada yada just interesting though
