Adhyas & Maya - any difference?

Can someone explain - he says often there is no consciousness in the body, but I feel like the body has a consciousness to it separate from the consciousness I consider myself. The body digests food, beats the heart, regenerates cells and discards old cells without my consciousness being aware of it. To me it seems this means the body has a conscious process to it. Help me out here
