I've miraculously had an orchid for for 2 1/2 years. I do the 3 ice cubes once a week (or whenever I remember). It's in a west window where it gets indirect light. Otherwise I pretty much ignore it, and it has bloomed 3 times. They must be pretty hardy if I haven't killed mine yet!

Thank you for saying you don't get the biathlon concept. I thought I was the only one who didn't get it :)

Fun!! I was up in Appleton yesterday visiting family.

Like don't know if you remember the craze with Beta Fish in vases or not, but you can put that peace lily roots in the water with the beta fish in the bottom so they must be hard to kill. Love the hair!

Aha, checked out origin of biathalon and found out that it was alternative for military training for Norwegians.  Who knew!!

You can't kill a peace lily..  Mine are still alive.  They like a lot of water and if you forget they will wilt, but do not fret, they spruce right up again when you water them. Orchids do well with the ice cube method.  Mine is over a year old.  Plants do not like soft water, they will perish quickly.  

2 things: thanks for the orchid tip, just got one for valentines day and that's helpful to know, and loved the Mumford and sons in the background!

I love plants too but cant be trusted. I kill everything. I am going to try this year. i need some for the house and my office.

Don't let him eat too much fatty food! I worry about cholesterol and such. Not my business sorry but I like Bob.

Butterscotch oatmeal cookies sound divine! The orchid is beautiful and easy. Really. They look fragile but are not hard. Peace lilies are hard to kill too. I had one for 11 years--finally died when a freeze occurred. Looks like a fun Saturday!

Cutest pair ever! Your so sweet and he is so funny! With the orchid, as long as it has good drainage just a little water once a week, over watering will grow mold and kill it.

I can keep plants alive inside but forget about outside. lol Check Lowes or Home Depot, they are really good about having indoor plants labeled. You should get the ones that are "steel", "tolerant" etc pretty hard to kill. lol And we need plants indoors, especially in the winter months to help purify the air. I just bought a few more actually but now I need plant stands! The shopping never ends. ;-)  P.S. How cute is Bob with his leg up eating a salad!

No pomegranates?  The mangoes where we live have been fabulous lately.  Bob is always cracking me up.  It seem like you two have a great time together.

Girl, peace lilies are hard to kill but orchids...I've lost many of those! I still have a peace lily that I got when my papa passed and it just turned 10 years old. Still going strong! You can do it!! xoxo Jayme

That first plant is EASY!! It can completely wilt from a lack of water, add water and perky as ever. OMG LOVE THE HAIR! FLEET FARM!!!!

plants and me aren't such a good thing kristin...lol..i killed a palm tree my husband had brought home from Fl when he was a little boy!!!! talk about feeling horrible! but then what is the weirdest thing is if i get one that is practically dead, i can bring it back?? go figure?? lol

Did your garage door get stuck open or shut? My folks spent 2 days stuck home when theirs wouldn't open this year. Then their car wouldn't start because it too was too cold. Thank goodness you didn't loose your heat! With all that cold so much can seize up. We lost our heat one extremely cold winter for 3 days, the AH guys were so busy they couldn't get to us before then.

Oh that lily is gorgeous. And that orchid! They are my favourite flower! I've never been able to keep one alive unfortunately and I love gardening :( I'm not sure if it's my climate or if I just killed it with love bc it certainly wasn't neglected lol! How's yours doing?
