Re-film this in the Midwest...We'll show you ice.
ОтветитьKeep watching GWAP for more tips and tricks (and ice)!
ОтветитьThis was filmed in New York
ОтветитьWhile the advise was good, I'm sorry to tell you that wasn't ice. See that pow flying up? not on ice. Hear that ice noise? nope. What you need is good old fashioned "Blue Ice."
ОтветитьThat's packed powder where I come from.
ОтветитьWhile I may not know what I'm doing, perhaps I do not know what "ice" or "soft" actually means.
I love hard firm chalky conditions. It is full rip as far as I'm concerned, the video tip to relax and use less edge than you think necessary is the difference between tense fear, and relaxed enjoyment.
Trying to get a chronic overedger to let go is like asking a devout Christian to give up God. Edge/God is all they have between themselves and oblivion and clinging as hard as possible to that edge scraping off the top layer of piste is normal everyday "skiing".
The trouble is when clinging on for dear life, you cannot relax with supple legs to turn the other way so you just traverse with full body tension waiting for you to slow down or even stop.
While talking to others on the chair, icy runs are a common complaint while everyone wants to know where the soft runs are. I'm railing 1" trenches and chair riders complain, so I suggest easing off the edge and brushing the turn.
Or maybe suggest butter the toast, don't scrape it.
This isn't ice and the piste is empty of people....too easy. Try demonstrating this technique on solid ice on a run loaded with other skiers and snowboarders crawling down the mountain.....
ОтветитьEr, where is the ice?
Ответитьterrible skiing....
ОтветитьNone of the icy skiing tips vids actually ski on ice...
ОтветитьHow about we focus on the skills and tactics provided by a guy who could ski your face off and not so much the conditions hes on.
ОтветитьIn the terminology of the Ski resorts this is loose frozen granular. If you ski in Maine the locals would say, “ it’s a might firm”. If you ski in New Hampshire at Cannon Mountain they would use the term “ bulletproof “ if you cannot penetrate the surface with the tip of your ski pole.
Ответитьif you carve on real ice no snow blows up
ОтветитьWhiteface! 👍
ОтветитьThat unnecessary music totally fucks this video.
ОтветитьI have to agree with a lot of the comments. Coming from a day of really icy conditions and looking for some advice as well as visual demonstration of what to do, it isn't helpful when someone talking about skiing on ice isn't skiing on ice.
ОтветитьThat looked like it was from East coast. Why couldn't they wait for it to get icy before filming? It's like teaching powder or bump skiing on a groomer.
ОтветитьHas anyone found a video where they show you how to ski on ice, while skiing on ice? Every video I've found explaining how to keep control on ice - they're on what looks like our best Wisconsin snow. We had two days of rain, and now it 11 degrees. There's snow, but one inch under it, it's boiler plate hard ice. I need tips for how to handle that?
ОтветитьThat’s beautiful firm snow, not ice.
ОтветитьAll good advice and tactics I use on hard pack and ice.
