Horizon Zero Dawn PC Review | Guerrilla's Gorgeous Open World Is Amazing On PC

Wonder if I can run this on a mid-end PC?

Been playing PC games from when i was a Teen, bought a PS4 ONLY to play Horizon, had as a 48 year old male a hard time, adjusting to the controller, im so happy that i now get to play it using a mouse to aim with, gonna be much smoother for me.

looks easier to play, I guess
my time with horizon on ps4 was 85% rolling away while getting hit by projectiles, 15% hiding in tall grass

Im new and i preordered it so what should i do when i install this game ? :)

I’ve heard people complain about the blandness and repetitiveness of parts of this game, saying that it does things that have been done a lot before.

I’ve never played any Ubisoft sandboxes, so would those mechanics still feel bland, or are they overdone in other games, which makes them feel bland here?

the dialogue options are just for showing Aloy's personality. All 3 options suit her character.

Bought it for $19 on Steam. Bought Cyberpunk $30. Not sure why.
That said, I'm so glad to finally play it on PC! Enjoyed the hell out of it on PS4.
Fingers crossed for Spider-Man (since God of War is a dream that'll never come true).

this game is amazing you can tame some of the big dino robots later in the game its so fun :)

One of the few games I have platinumed, this game is amazing may grab it on PC as I never went back and played they DLC.

Idk if I'd need it on PC. That game seemed to run pretty smooth with a stable 30fps on ps4 so I might skip this one. I usually only re-buy games on PC of the game was unstable on PS4 causing it to be less enjoyable. Example would be dragons dogma or assassin's unity. Like ghosts of Tsushima is 30fps but it's very stable smooth that I wouldn't be much more satisfied at a higher framerate.

Why do those console ports to PC still keep that awful ubiquitous on screen scroll wheel for weapon choices. It really spoils it for PC gamers. That scroll wheel is designed for controllers not mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard is still excellent for control offering more accuracy. Yes as this video progressed there was mention of some crashes etc. Of course most avid PC gamers should realise that this is a port. It’s very well done, and plays ok, nice graphics etc but the UI, etc is always biased towards the console. It’s a typical port.

Not a lot of games get cutscenes right for ultrawides. I was really disappointed in RDR2 when the cutscenes had the dreaded black bars. Luckily people usually release some kind of fix.

Seeing this game on pc just makes me want a Killzone Collection on pc even more, specially killzone 2 with its incredible multiplayer.

I'm going to buy it.. not just cause I was interested since I saw it announced (I don't own a ps4) but because sony is willing to let their exclusives go to PC. Here's hoping for Uncharted....pretty please

Does Sony not like / support first person perspective mode? I prefer the immersion of first person view rather than watching myself on screen? I REALLY wanted to play this game and Death Stranding but they seem to ignore the very important user choice of POV.

I unsubbed from some of the other gaming channels and subbed to yours. Great commentary on top of a great video. Good stuff

I do not have PS4 and I'm a PC gamer. I was fortunate to discover and watch through, Mr. Odd's playthrough videos of this game. And I was fascinated, mostly by the post-apocalyptic scifi themes, I want to experience and carefully explore all those "old world" sites and sights as Odd mostly quickly glances over them and just rushes through the plots. But as it is, I will have to wait for sales on the PC version, first because my financial situation is poor and second because I want to see most bugs kinked out before I step in this world.

I found it much better on PC rather than when I was playing it on PS4. The combat is much more fluid because now I can aim it much better with mouse. On PS4 I admit I have to rely on slow motion when aiming while jumping.

wish i had watched this first rather than the Digital Foundry video don't know why gameranx mentioned viewers to watch DF in their's when it crushed any hope of players with 1060 gpu and 1080p monitors by showing that 60fps is unachievable ... think I will still wait and see what future videos say.. thanks for at least giving me a bit more hope

The only thing that is annoying on pc is the framerate skipping and choppiness.I mran in general not just this game.I wonder why that is?!

This game is nothing more than an outdated AC game with dinos. Once you get to pass the dinos the game degrades into nothing more than an inventory management simulator. You can buy this for $20 on the PS Store and that's exactly how much its worth.

It doesn't seem to me, like you say here, that Aloy has a big head, I mean in the way that would bother me. I find this character interesting without having playing the game because she looks different than the "usual" heroines we see today, that look like photomodels, rather than someone who had a rough life in a tribe and lived her youth as a survivour. And perhaps she might have a larger head because of her hair but there are lots of people with larger heads and so on... she seems more natural, more like a real person to me (not because of the larger head, but because real people do not have perfect features). And P.S. you haven't talked about the game's story at all... mostly graphics and action stuff that we can figure out just by watching these clips.

In my years of following RPS, you've never posted your system specs while reviewing. While I love you guys, it's hard to gauge potential PC performance without knowing what exactly you're playing on. With ports from console to PC, hardware specs are especially important in that calculus. I learned that the hard way with RDR2, which will ruin your otherwise (seemingly) fine gaming PC but play fine on a 5-year-old console.

Using reshade mods helps with the skin tone. Nexus has a couple of decent looking ones.

I don't know but the textures look rather soft for a PC game released in 2020. Is there an option to turn off the UI items?

I offered this game to my new RTX3080 and widescreen, and this is a truly beautiful game on this kind of hardware. And the gameplay is actually great! Combats are so dynamic and fluid. Plus the world, story and characters... This is way better than the AssCreed games!

The thing that standout the most is the responsiveness of the character, and the vegetarian and effects are so much much spectacular
