If you want another good prepper item you can use or trade. You can buy some dollar store reading glasses. If one eye is a different prescription you can pop the lenses out and make custom glasses. I just started needing glasses and they are really important when you can not see.

Some good ideas. Gorilla tape better for burning. O-ring of correct size works a lot better than rubber band (it kept rolling off) and a guitar pick (cellulite) can be carried under the tape. Long burn time and can be scraped to powder, too.

I've been Prepping for decades and I buy Bic Lighters only. I probably have 200 of them. Keep Prepping my friends.

Clipper lighters. Cheap. As reliable as Bic, rechargeable with gas and you replace the flint. Like having a gas zippo at a fraction of the cost.

Last year I bought 50 lighters in the sales. It was 5 for 50p.

If you have a can of bug spray/repellant or any aerosol cans for that matter you can aim and spray across a lighter flame and you have a flame thrower.

Please be careful telling people about adjusting the flame height. What happens as you do that is the arm moves up higher and higher so the flame gets larger. The only problem is that when you stop pressing the switch, the lighter doesnt turn all the way off anymore and some butane is always leaking out. You can get a bad burn or worse from it leaking in your pocket.

Folks, please prepare! Water, water, water, use IBC totes for stacking and storing large amounts of water. Freeze dried food is best or can your own food. You also need a method of defense, such as weapons, be prepared to fortify your doors and windows. This is not a dress rehearsal. We are in it right now. Does thr butane evaporate in the lighter before you have a chance to use it? In other words can you buy ahead of time and keep for a long time?

I read the account of a man that lived through the siege of Sarajevo and his number one suggestion was to have lots of lighters. They were highly regarded bartering items.

I think using Clear or Freezer tape is better to light a 🔥 Fire 🔥 with than Duck Tape.

another article that is very good as a backup for starting a fire, is having a pocket magnifying glass. works very well on sunny days and saves your lighters for making nighttime fires.

If you take several inches of DUCT tape and tear it into really thin strips and then loosely roll that into a ball, it will light even faster and hotter. You can use a real ferro rod that will give sparks in abundance for an even greater instant fire. Of course the disposable lighters are great if you can keep them warm.

Turning up a lighter when I was a kid was the cool thing to do

Hold the glass bottle like a circle with your pointer and thumb. Put the bottom of the bic against the metal cap, and pry it upwards.

Just put one in my pocket today thinking I should stock up with some more 😊
