The first time I ever saw actress Andie MacDowell, my immediate thought was "she looks like she could be the daughter of that actress from 'The Front'." ( At the time, I was not aware that there was only a ten year age difference between the two.)
Unable to remember Andrea Marcovicci's name, I Googled the cast of "The Front" before rewatching this upload. Andie MacDowell's name immediately popped up as the star of "The Front."
For a moment, I thought Donald Trump had signed an executive order demanding "Andrea Marcovicci" officially be renamed "Andie MacDowell" and that the cowards at Google had caved. Turns out it was a different movie.

What a great movie. Great screenplay, great actors, so brave and touching.

This is such a great film. Zero Mostel, one of my and my father's favorites, made me cry. I had never cared so much for the characters in a film. Watch every single moment until the end credits roll up and off.

Perfect time to show this.

My first Woody Allen film n i liked it. A homey humorous heroic little story.

Don't the women look glamorous compared to now.

It takes a special kind of insight to bring humor and comedy to such a dark and serious subject. This movie does it, without being quite as hamfisted as, say, "Dr. Strangelove". The times made people do and say strange things, which I guess aligns them with comedy in a sense.
I think everyone's performance here is top notch, especially Zero Mostel, who typifies the predicament many innocent people found themselves in, thanks to the over-reaching government.

Amazing movie! Never heard of it until now. It was filmed when I was one year old. I see the style of cinema with big facial close ups and well produced scenes; that style is gone now. Could be Woody Allen's very best performance of all time here. The ending is gold. Films like this are the ones that Scorsese and other greats study and emulate.

Those who were blacklisting people, were the same ones who imported Nazis to work for them. None of the Nazis they brought to US was ever blacklisted.
