Jesus, he's Jesus; he's been on the earth🙂
ОтветитьSorry Sir your information is not correct.
Melchizedek is a Title like our President.
Mel. Is the title given to SHEM, the second son of Noah who was the KING,
Priest and Prophet of Salem (Jerusalem) after THE flood.
He was chosen because he was the
“godly” one of the three sons.
During those days the oldest living person of that time held the office until death.
Shem was still in office when ABRAHAM fought ten Kings, with only 300 soldiers, and won.
Mel came out to congratulate his win and paid tithes to Shem.
Shem lived 75 years after the death of Abraham and died.
He is said to have had no beginning, no mother or father and no genealogy because he out lived them all.
This continued until Jesus Christ who is the last King Priest and Prophet although HE WAS NEVER RECOGNIZED AS either while HE lived.
I appreciate the work you are doing.
Thank you
Sirs BARNES AND NOBEL HAVE THE BOOK “THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.”
They have many MEL. books bet I think this is the one giving the most information, and correct, as to the Meaning of Mel.
You got a 2nd one right.
ОтветитьSeems to me English Melchizedek is the 1611 King James Bible for the English-speaking Peoples.
ОтветитьThere's a problem with this interpretation, and it's in Hebrews 7:3 that sort of diffuses this idea, that this is Jesus preincarnate. I've struggled with this in studying theophanies/Christophanies which I think there are more easily supported examples of in the OT. The issue- Hebrews 7:3 in the greek:
"Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever."
The word "resembling", aphomoioō can't be worded to mean anything but a copy, a facsimile or a likeness. And he's in the likeness of the son of God... so of the 2 common arguments, that this is an preincarnate Christ or a motif or allusion, the answer is actually a 3rd- the reverse, Melchizidek is made in the image of the Son of God, which in the two powers theology of early judaism, would make perfect sense. Think the Aaronic priesthood- was that God's first choice? No, in fact Moses was so you could view that Aaronic priesthood as a concession. Abram, in the tradition would also be viewed a a priest. Moses was meant to be this next kingly priest returning from Egypt, and that motif remain consistent throughout the kingdom, the prophets, etc. The intent: there's a primary priesthood not tied to blood, but by anointing by God. And that carries throughout the rest of the Bible.
I would encourage those headlong into study to look into the videos by Dr. M. Heiser and Sam Shamoun unwrapping exhaustive looks into this. There's still a great deal of significance in the character of Melchizedek, so don't fret if you feel this tests your faith. The OT is ripe with imagery of a second power in human form. I've taught from all perspectives and this is where my current thinking is. Couple with that, there's other things going on contextually to Gen 14 that are actually really critical- adjacent to Melchizedek is the king of Sodom in vs 21, who wants to reward Abram. This is actually all tied up in the literary structure of the passage, which points to some intent- the center being, the blessing of Melchizedek in vs. 19. So the loyalty of Abram is immediately challenge by the king of Sodom, and he passes the test, boldly claiming the victory solely belongs to Yahweh and his chosen people by rejecting any reward.
But we don't know that for sure
Ответить🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you brothers for breaking it down. For we have a great high priest whom we can interact with, Jesus. Thank you Lord
ОтветитьIs this a common theory?
ОтветитьIf someone engages in activity that someone else has done before, that doesn't mean that they are the same person
