Incredibly based games shown off, I especially like that you're a big Twisted Metal fan! I feel like I rarely ever see those. I know you talked about 1-3 but I was curious on your thoughts on 4? That was the first game I ever played and the soundtrack for that game has never left my mind since then.
ОтветитьI had actually recently replayed the classic PS1 Resident Evil trilogy. I still have all my original games and can play them on my PS3 (except Final Fantasy IV for some reason as the graphics glitch out on anything besides an actual PS1 system)
ОтветитьAdam I have been watching your channel since the generation videos.
I was eleven when the NES was released in North America (yeah).
I have learned so much about the video game industry as well as the games themselves.
Your channel could I believe be a documentary about gaming history.
Keep posting I will keep watching.
Nice photo of your Mom and yourself on an adventure.
I never knew this about the slimey Sony contractual details and here I was thinking Nintendo did them dirty by going with Phillips. Not surprised as Sony is no very shady and slimey with their Gaming sector
ОтветитьI got a PS1 a few years after it came out, I'm about the same age as you. Most of my memories from that system is final fantasy 7 which absolutely blew my mind when I played through it as a kid. I was probably 9 at the time. I'm pretty sure I played all the way through that game three times as a kid and it was my primary entertainment for a few years. That game is a big part of my childhood.
ОтветитьPlayStation means a lot to me. I played NES as a kid, grew up very poor and didn't have my own system, but I played at friends' houses. Then I stopped being interested in games completely, was spending most of my time on my bike and skateboard. Years later I saw a PlayStation, already late in its life, Metal Gear Solid had come out, so around 98? I borrowed one from my uncle's shop with MGS because I remembered playing Metal Gear on the NES. That level when you fight the tank in the mine field, with no internet and no guides of any kind, I remember thinking "what if I toss a grenade in the tank when the guy opens the hatch?" Just a completely crazy thought, no way games had gotten that smart right? And when it WORKED, I remember CHEERING with excitement that I figured it out on my own. I was in the college dorms at the time. I became a gamer that moment. PlayStation made me a gamer for life. Now I own like 20 consoles LOL.
ОтветитьI got my ps1 in 98 it was a great system.
ОтветитьWonderful video Adam.
After all these years you never disappoint.
Truly consistent.
I've been watching you for so long that honestly it's become a big fraction in all of this history.
If you change the barrel and firing pin in a gun you have given the gun different ballistics
ОтветитьAdam MGS1 is on the collection no worries!
ОтветитьLoved my ps1. Played the wwf smackdown games to death on there! Ms pacman Maze madness, pacman world, crash 2, and so many more. Good times.
ОтветитьI’ll always remember the day I got a PS1, I was 4-5 ish around 97’, Came home from school to find out my mother traded my ‘megadrive & all my games’ + my new Saturn with one game (clockwork night) for a PS1 & Tomb Raider. I suspect an older family friend that knew gaming told my mother the Saturn was a bad choice & to get the PS1.
Tiny me was absolutely devastated …. “Where are my games?!” I was so sad about loosing my Megadrive I didn’t even notice the PS1. Hindsight, I get it & appreciate she tried to do something really nice. & now I feel very nostalgic towards the PS1. But that ‘shock’ is such a strong memory for me 😂.
Didn’t love tomb raider right away but when dad got me Crash Bandicoot, that was it. Loved it.

ОтветитьI’m 31 years old. But we didn’t get the PlayStation until 98 or 99. So it was all NES, SNES, or Sega Genesis. PlayStation was the king. Imagine being introduced to ps1 as a kid with Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro The Dragon, and Final Fantasy 8 being practically new. But imagine being so old that you had to print out cheat codes. Entire webpages of cheat codes.
ОтветитьDid anyone else find it hilarious when he didn't know the US release date?
ОтветитьThanks to the Gamma emulator I am now getting to enjoy all of the PlayStation games that I never had a chance to get during its lifespan, today upscaled on my phone!!!
It's absolutely awesome and I highly recommend it !!!
The original silent Hill is one of my favorite games of all time and I got it when I was 15 years old in summer school for the eighth grade!!!
A buddy of mine had the game and the strategy guide and I traded him my old purple game, boy, color and Pokémon blue for the game in the strategy book!
Who this day I still love that game and I play it now on my phone because all my games back then got lost. Thanks to a different friend. ....
My father got me a PlayStation the year. It came out in the United States, for Christmas, and it is because of Ridge racer and Tekken that we had played earlier that summer in the arcade, that made it an absolute no-brainer!!!
I got the dual shock edition in Christmas of 1998 and then in the Christmas of 2000 got the revised PSone!!
I have so many memories with this console, and it is probably my favorite of all time? Although I could say that for quite a few consoles... but the PS1 stands at the top for making me a gamer!
I think the maid psone slim, so it'll look new shiny and relevant next to the Dreamcast even tho the PS2 was tight around yhe corner in a few months
ОтветитьAfter having a Genesis for a number of years, I was saving up all my birthday and Xmas money (and 8th grade graduation money) to buy a Sega Saturn. Some time early in 1996 I saw an employee playing a game in a Software Etc. and I was immediately obsessed. I asked if they were playing a Saturn game. No, they said, it's PlayStation.
What's the game called? Resident Evil.
I was SO enthralled by RE that I knew I had to have PS instead of the Saturn.
So the Playstation was the first system I bought with my own money that I had saved up, for my 15th birthday.
Even with Resident Evil, those early years were pretty rough on the ol' PSX. I really think it wasn't until 1997 with FF7 and Symphony of the Night that it came into its own.
Great video again, Adam!
PS1 is my favorite PlayStation system out of the 5 that have released. Loved the RPG’s on this system: FF 7-9, Final Fantasy Tactics, Breath of Fire 3 & 4, Alundra, SaGa Frontier 1 & 2, Vagrant Story…too many to all name.
Racing games, sports titles, horror games, platformers, this system was and still is amazing!
Adam I’m a 44 year old man from Ohio and I just want to sincerely thank you for your videos, I know this is going to sound cornball but what you do is very very important you help keep our childhoods alive, you tell the stories in a way people my age can really get behind and you don’t get enough recognition for it so just thank you Adam and please keep up the great work.
ОтветитьViva PlayStation 1! I’ve also existed on this planet for nearly 30 years, yikes!
ОтветитьPSP 20!
ОтветитьI got it pretty close to launch I think. I remember it just felt so futuristic
ОтветитьAlways find it funny when you make a comment about Gen-Zers watching content about consoles from before our time. Been watching your channel for close to a decade now and enjoy learning the history about the gaming world. Keep on making these great videos!! I learn something new every time
ОтветитьYour videos are just too good.
ОтветитьJupiter? You mean the Neptune?
ОтветитьWhere’s Gex?
ОтветитьI don't know if you still respond to all your comments, but I am 5 seconds off of pulling a gold dural on my last winning can. I spent maybe 3 hours grinding, love your content btw.
Ответитьthe most iconic system
ОтветитьI was a sophomore in high school when this came out. And I remember going to a Buddy's house and his little brother was playing it and this must have been like Nov Dec of 95 And he was playing road rash. And I remember the FMV part of the beginning totally blew me away. That's how I knew I had to get one. I was still rocking at that point my SNES from when I was smaller
ОтветитьAnd the funny thing is now people love The Phantom menace compared to the new Star wars movies
ОтветитьI actually played this yesterday. I just got diehard trilogy. I love this console. It was the first console I bought with my own money. Where I fell in love with jrpg's. Final fantasy tactics was the first game I played on it. But nowadays I am more open to other genre. Great video and love all these anniversary videos.
ОтветитьIm still collecting ps1 games since 2012
ОтветитьFirst time I saw the original PlayStation was walking into my older brother's friend's house and that friend's brother was playing Final Fantasy 7 and he was right at the beginning of the game and I watched as Barrett swore and I thought that is the coolest thing I've ever seen cuz I've never seen swear words in a video game.
What an amazing time.
I got to see and play one of those super sony prototypes. Pretty neat. This dude and his son owned it and drove around the country showing it off. That was the only interesting thing at my local "comic-con" several years ago.
ОтветитьI agree with you on Silent Hill 2. I tried to play the original but dropped it cause I didn't like it. Then I went back and played though the remake and it still didn't do it for me. I don't find the story as profound and amazing as other people see it, and the gameplay gets repetitive. I found Silent Hill 1 to be more enjoyable.
ОтветитьBorn in 02 and this was my first console ever. I played the PS1 through the 6th and 7th generation of consoles. I still own the PlayStation to this day.
ОтветитьGreat video Adam! I was fascinated with the wobble backstory. Keep it up brother! 👊
ОтветитьMy first game system was a PS1. It was on clearance at Sam's Club when the PS2 has just come out in 2000. Just last month I pulled out the original Spyro Trilogy and played it all within 2 days. I still have many many fond memories of my original PS1 (it broke long ago, but of course I have a working one now.) I'll be 30 next year so it's almost like I've been growing up with the PlayStation the whole time. Happy 30th Birthday PlayStation!
ОтветитьWhat got me interested in Playstation was when I saw screenshots and gameplay of Mortal Kombat 3, and not only did it look night and day better than SNES/Genesis versions, but it at a glance looked identical to the arcade version.
ОтветитьMSG 1 is on the MSG collection on PS5 & XB Series X.
ОтветитьGlad you heavily touched on the Nintendo Playstation deal falling through due to Sony being able to release unlicensed games for the system.
Everyone thinks Nintendo made a huge mistake on pulling out of this deal, but they had a legit concern at the time. Especially since when that deal was first signed, Sony wasnt the same media company in the 80s that they became when the Playstation was coming out.
My oldest memories of the PlayStation 1? My sister and I owned both a Sega Master System and Mega Drive at the time, we had acquired such devices after our cousins kept bringing theirs on their visits. One day in the 90s, I think it must have been 1997 or 1998, they brought over a PlayStation. I had seen educational CD-ROM games at school, but the idea of playing them on television blew my mind. They only game my cousins brought was Oddworld and some basket ball game. Neither of them peaked my interest. But on their next visits they brought Need for Speed III and Driver. The former was an impressive racing game with cops and robber, but the latter was on a whole knew level with all its spectacular car crashes story-driven narrative. After that, I knew I had to buy a PlayStation. I got a PlayStation, my sister on the other hand got Nintendo 64.
ОтветитьI’M OLD 😂😂😂
ОтветитьNice shirt Adam
ОтветитьAnother great vid Adam! I also agree on your take that Silent Hill has held up better than SH2 upon revisiting.
ОтветитьDespite I was born in 2001 and grown up with the PS2. I ever play PS1 because one of my classmate in grade school had the PS1 and I play it. The game that I play at the time was Crash Bandicoot and Dragon Ball GT Final Bout.
The PS1 had so many great games and I still play it with the emulators. My favorite PS1 games was Megaman Legends 2, Crash Bandicoot series, Crash Team Racing and Final Fantasy 7.
Wasn't there any Sega Saturn's in store and if so would you have got the Saturn instead
