I just can't justify the price of some of the higher-end branded waterproof jackets when brands like Regatta are producing very similar products with the same features just without GTX materials, all at a fraction of the price.

Great video showing the features of the jacket! It looks like a good replacement option for the discontinued Rab Bergen. I was originally thinking that not having a storm flap and velcro would limit the venting options, but your demo of using the lower and popper and unzipping from top and bottom shows a good alternative to dumping heat, while staying protected from the elements.

Thank you once more Paul and Trekkit team for these awesome videos. Very clarifying. I found this jacket very very similar to my Montane Endurance Pro. Very nice by the way, I will consider it for a future replacement. Keep doing things that way, congrats!

Try this jacket on a windy wet day and you will find that the neck area is impossible to close. Its like a pelican. The hod pull cords dont hold and the little they do just pull the jacket so that the whole weight of the jacket sits on the top of your head. Shame but at least its now Gore Tex. Lets see a wet and windy video.

Hi! I just checked their site and I saw that someone asked whether the hood is compatible with a helmet, and the answer from the employee was no.(you can find it on the q&a section about this jacket). Is he just a bad informed employee or the jacket isn't really helmet compatible although it fits one :).Thanks, and great review!

Hi, good review. Can you please comment how soft or hard the fabric is? And how loud is it? I have jacket from Haglofs which is also (partly) 70D and it feels really hard and makes a lot of noise for a jacket. I have another Gore-tex jacket from Salewa and that one is really nice and soft and quiet. For a day in the mountains it might not be very important but for everyday use it is. Thanks.

So if you’re wearing this jacket whilst hill climbing in cold, windy, rainy conditions that there will be no condensation at all on the inside of the jacket at the end of your hike? I’m desperate to find a jacket around £250 that will not leave me severely frustrated by finding dampness on the inside of it at the top of a long climb.

Very good review, I think you could have improved a little bit on the ... well... water proof bit, I have tried many many jackets and they ALL failed on me, they work absolutely fine for the first 2, 3 hour on the rain and then eventually I get wet, I am yet to find one that works for all the day long if the rain just doesn't stop.. which in England is a reality, what do you have to say about that? Is this just another jacket that works for 2,3 h or it just works, period? And another question , how fordable is it? Is it malleable? Like... a bit soft or hard to fold? Cos this would go on the top of my backpack, and if I can't fold it there... then it's a no go for me as well. By the way, trekitt is my go to website to buy outdoor gear, excellent service and very good reviews.

Hey Paul. Thanks for the review.
I wish Rab just sewed logo on the fabric. Should I be worried it might peel off?. That's my only concern. Overall, it's true competitor amongst other 3l Gore tex jackets. Rab took a different path: No obsession with reducing thickness of material which results in great grammture. Well-made stuff.

Wow, just find this video, and it's just what i'm wanted - subscribed of course.
This jacket is exactly what i'm looking for.
In sizing terms, wich size would you recommend for 5'10"-ish, 78 kg's, let say old man with some stomach ?
Want to put one or two layers underneath sometimes too but don't want that baggy or bulky look when in jacket only with base layer.
I'm in doubt between M and L and don't have chance to try it anywhere.
Or is it maybe some other jacket to recommend?
Thanks in advance.

I am so torn. This jacket or the Mountain Equipment Makalu jacket. Both look fantastic and would be worn either over a thermo dart baselayer or a rab nebula pro for when things are a bit chilly! Any suggestion?

I'm 5'8 / 155lbs ... athletic build. I ordered the small and medium and returned the small. Wore the jacket this weekend in the mountains over a base layer and midlayer (Kyanite LT) and it worked perfectly. A little bit weighty but I really enjoyed using it!!! Great work Rab! Note: The version I received only had 1 kidney tie/cincher in the jacket and not 2. Not a deal breaker. The 1 tie did a great job when I needed it.

Are the 2 gods toggles at the front of the jacket supposed to pull tight? I purchased one of these from you guys last week and my 2 toggles won’t stay tight when pulled. They just flip back and the hood then becomes loose.
