Suunto GPS Track POD - How to use

My track pod fell out of the the arm band clip when running so I mailed Suunto support to ask if they have a more secure solution before I invest any more of my cash in a replacement Suunto pod - these are £100 rrp.
After nearly 2 weeks I got a reply with just this hyperlink.
Zipping it is a jacket pocket is not an option when running so I think I'll e-bay the watch and get a Garmin (or something else that is more secure).

Can someone tell which cadence measuring device can i connect to my Suunto Ambit 3?

I still have no clue what the heck this device does.

My gps pod doesnt show ascent or descent. How to fix it or is it broken?
