Nice! I went in '98 when things were still gritty, polluted & over run with scooters - One of the best trips of my life! I'd definitely go back & English is widely spoken amoung some of the friendliest people in the world.
ОтветитьGreat content, my friend! Thanks for sharing ✌️✌️
ОтветитьLovely and accurate account of what the so called "historical center" of Athens looks and feels like. But that is but a fracture of what life in Athens is about. It's like describing New York through a stroll in Manhattan midtown. Maybe a follow up video with some broader view of the city?
ОтветитьYou made me remember how much I missed home. The video was amazing just like Athens!
ОтветитьHello , you should also consider visiting Thessaloniki, Greece's second city. It's much smaller than Athens , it has so much to offer nonetheless. First of all , it has a beautiful seafront perfect for strolling. Then , historic buildings which are particularly interesting if you want to learn about byzantine , Roman and more recent times. Then the food , Thessaloniki is the only greek city in the UNESCO list of gastronomic cities . It's full of bars , clubs and restaurants , it's a vibrant city with a lot of young people and also considerably cheaper than Athens. It has some of the same issues though , shit traffic , pollution etc. Definetly worths yours time
ОтветитьGolden like always, just the best and more complete travel guide ever.
ОтветитьAmazing video and great advice! Also Athens has much more than 2 McDonald's restaurant, probably like 10 or so!
ОтветитьAttaché are my favorite reviews, thank you!
ОтветитьUmmm...I'm sorry but walking in Athens is not necessarily the best idea everywhere...I was there last summer and walking in Monastiraki when I got jumped by three guys, punched in my jaw, and mugged. In broad daylight. It was like 3 PM. And the police just shrugged it off like its to be expected. Worst experience of my life!
ОтветитьAnother great installment! The video editing always deserves high praise, but I'm especially amazed at how well the audio is weaved with the music. This is a treat to both watch and listen to!
ОтветитьGreat video as always. But you were far too kind about the graffiti. It really is terrible and a shame to see some buildings (and metro cars) entirely covered
ОтветитьAs a Greek I like that foreigners show the appreciation for Greece but apart from Athens there are also equally beautiful and marvel cities like Thessaloniki( second largest city I Greece), Chania ( on the island of Crete), Corfu etc 😊
Ответитьnice vid man i live in athens for almost 7 years
ОтветитьBrother I would Like to send you small help to you please send me Instagram details I will send my email address in that. I am from pastor vijaysagar from vizag Andhra Pradesh South India.
ОтветитьYou need not spend long in Greece before everywhere else in the world feels kind of boring :)
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the souvlaki place please? Looks epic need to try!! Thank you :)
ОтветитьI live in Athens. For more than two decades. It's an atrocious place to live and I suggest any foreigner avoiding it at all costs.
ОтветитьI love koulouri
ОтветитьNo one is arguing … Athens is the birth of western civilization. I lived in Athens over 30 years ago. It was neither dirty or neglected… and the public transport, though not like Paris or Berlin, was easy to navigate and frankly leaps and bounds more convenient than anything you found in America at the time (even the NYC subway was just as dirty and broken down 🤨🤷🏻♀️) Athina was, is a beautiful city…
ОтветитьGreat vid as always mate, without doubt the best travel vlog out there. Hope you're OK Alex, not that it affected the usual quality, you seemed a tad jaded and tired, especially on the voice over. If it's just me I apologise bud
ОтветитьWould you be able to go to New Orleans? I am not too sure if you have done a travel guide but if you have not, I would love to see one since I am going there in August. It has culture, food, and entertainment and while there is crime like many cities, NOLA in general is something unique.
ОтветитьYOOO I'M LATE
Ответитьlooooove it!
Ответитьi like it, I really loike eeet. I want to go there one day when my mum has money
ОтветитьMy two cents. I have been fortunate to be in Athens a few times, and as I write this, I look forward to being there again this year. I think this video is one of the few that captures the essence of what Athens is and is like. Great job.
ОтветитьSo glad I came across you! I've been living in central Athens since I married here. Over 35 years. You are so spot on and honest about the heart of the city. You captured it's essence so now I trust you to guide me through other cities. Thankyou!
ОтветитьI am Athenian and i think you got right many points about our city! You showed very little though! We have one of the best cuisines in the world, okay But we also have one of the most vibrant lifestyles! The night here starts around 11 and the choices are endless! This is not how most europeans live! ;)
ОтветитьThanks for the safety comment. we heard horrible things about our neighborhood only to find its nightlife to be alive, fun, and totally safe. But we also hail from LA and Chicago. This place is safe... safe safe. Like I felt more uncomfortable on the lakefront walkway than in the darkest back alley here. Sure, don't be dumb, but that is every city I have ever visited!
ОтветитьMumbai? C'mon... Traffic congestion in Athens is a temporary (not a permanent) phenomenon within a day and depends on many factors. For example, during the pandemic, which is when you visited Athens, most Athenians chose to use their automobiles instead of public transportation, for obvious reasons. This causes traffic congestion to appear more often and for a longer period of time within a day. Even this, at its peak, cant be compared with the traffic in cities like Mumbai... Traffic in these cities can create new definition of the term "traffic" on almost a daily basis. There's also the issue of the quality factors of the traffic congestion itself, because in cities like Mumbai most drivers dont respect traffic signs and display poor or no traffic education at all, which makes the streets there a total hell. This Mumbai style of traffic is not the case in Athens, it never was. One has to admit though that the conditions created by the pandemic, and Im referring to Athens, was a stepback, as great efforts have been made to convice people to use public trasportation, which to large extend they managed to do. I guess after the pandemic people ll use pt again.
Ответитьthank for the tour.
ОтветитьOH HELL YEA THANK YOU!!!
ОтветитьNothing special,Lisboa is ten times better.
ОтветитьThis is the video I’ve been waiting for. Thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьCould you share with us which the greek song is that during the last 10 minutes in the video? :)
ОтветитьI came here because Athens was leaked for Mario Kart tour lol
ОтветитьI love how raw your videos are. You deliver honesty showing how the cities actually look with no filter… thank you for sharing this!
ОтветитьI mean it's a great video. But what is was missing was the info... what's the name of these places? That would be great t9 know. Also the areas that transform to vibrant areas... i would like to know :)
ОтветитьI'm in Athens at the moment and just went to Harry's Kitchen. It was absolutely fantastic and I wanna thank you for sharing all the little wonders of these great cities
ОтветитьAmazing video. I’m very excited to eat all the amazing food! Do you mind sharing the name of the place where you had the mussels? Thank you! Looking forward to watching more videos. Subscribed!!
ОтветитьHave to have to have to visit the world's most secret gem - Chongqing. Think Manhattan meets Rio, where 2 major rivers and 3 mountains meets, with 30,000 bridges riddled with zip wired, tunnels, cable cars, monorails and walkways. Also fiery food and laid back, chilled lifestyle. Pure Bladerunner -visit now
ОтветитьI grew up in the Bogotá of the 80s and I know quite well what you describe, the excitement of a big (and potentially dangerous) city! For me I need the buzz and the edginess to feel alive. Somebody said they saw a sign back then saying: "some people say Bogotá could be dangerous.....but so it was ancient Rome!!!!" / Travelling to Athens soon👍🏽
ОтветитьThanks for sharing, however it would have been very helpful to show where these food places were located.
ОтветитьSeeing the video in retrospect, I love that you dedicated that much time for public transport. It's severely underrated here.
ОтветитьThank you! Well done! I really appreciate your video! I'm going to Athens for the first time with my husband and you did give me a lot of good ideas. Thank you again.
ОтветитьThanks!
