Yes and No. There are four ways to read the Vedas. As pertaining to mind and body, as pertaining to the Earth, as pertaining to the sky and as the Rishis would explain. Most of the views shown here are from the Purana time period and are using a mixture of views mentioned but primarily those of the Rishis who would love nothing more than awe you. The simpler sky view from Veda's which is well hidden in Veda's would be closer to the truth and what views we have today. Much of Sanskrit during Puranic times had lost their meanings from the lay community. The Rishis still knew the simpler truth but chose to give you those elaborate views. For the simple sky (sun, moon, stars) view, read Tilak, S.B. Roy or Subhash Kak where they cleave to science and where there are strong indications that they were aware of the Precession of the Equinox.
