The cathode ray tube (CRT) was the technology used in TV sets for many decades before introduction of flat LCD and OLED TV's. Billions of people watch TV sets with CRT inside. This video shows the manufacturing process of CRT's and how they make a picture on the screen. This video is a pay of honour to all those that developed and produced CRT's, a technoly that changed the world.
The footage was recoderded by Philips in 1989 in their press glass factory in Aachen Germany. It was found be me in old archives when the CRT production was stopped. To preserve this footage I digitized it, and to let others enjoy a view in history regarding the manufacturing of one of the most remarkable products of the last century I decided to put a copy on youtube. Enjoy.
