Love Shimano cranksets, but this new XTR colour and design looks like a cheapie aliexpress special, or some bargain bin sram SX crankset.
ОтветитьCograts on 90k. There is no one on y/t that brings the depth of explanation of new products, like you. Cheers
ОтветитьIf it's ain't broken don't change it 🙃
ОтветитьThank you. This answered all my questions.
ОтветитьDefinitely I prefer the old M9100 crank logo, more classy. The previous preload adjustment was awesome; that Shimano brings back now the old horrible pinch-bolds on the XTR cranks is a bummer!
ОтветитьI love how everything is backwards compatible with the outgoing groupsets. No new standard derailleur hanger, now new freehub body, now new chain and cassette profile.
ОтветитьIt's really nice that now we can use the new ring with an M8100 crank to get the 55mm chainline and narrower Q compared to M8120.
ОтветитьThey really should have an option to get all silver cranks
ОтветитьI prefer the Looks of the M9100 crank tbh
ОтветитьNo 2× chainset anymore....
Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
2× til i die! 😂
I suppose the old 2× chainring will fit the new cranks but then there is no front mechs but side pull, which won't work on my Ritchey p29er, staying 2× is getting harder
I have older XTR 9120, which weigh 561g. In my opinion, new ones with the traditional mounting system with two bolts in the arm, and a plastic one eliminating the play are a step back. I prefer mine with Sram system. Additionally, new 9200 look awful, like parts from Aliexpress. Maybe if colors were the other way around, that most of the arm was silver, it would help. New chainring also looks bad. Atleast XT 8200 looks normal, although they could finally make a silver version like it used to be :).
ОтветитьGlad to see 160mm, but would like to have seen a 155mm option
ОтветитьClassic
ОтветитьI had no idea cranks were based on number of cassette speeds.
ОтветитьI like the pinch bolts. That’s the good point about the Shimano design.
ОтветитьThe new cranks are heavier?
ОтветитьYou consistently create the most informative, detailed technical mtn bike content on the internet. Thank you!
(And I consider myself lucky that I don't think about my cranks much, if at all!)
1. Looks awful
2. I don't like the increased q-factor
3. 160 mm XC would have been nice
M9100
ОтветитьThe new XTR M9220 crank weighs exactly the same as the M8100 XT crank; and also shares the same form factor. 😂 Smoke and mirrors with that XTR larger than life decal.
Ответитьlove shimano cranks, no need for 50nm torque, steel axle and nice big bearings
ОтветитьAre you gonna review the new xtr xc wheels aswell? Crazy weight coming from shimano
ОтветитьShimano selling and asking a ridiculous price for the XTR crank without having the 6/4 Titanium chainring is Ridiculous!!
Ответить$400.00 for crank arms is also Ridiculous!!
ОтветитьI'm mistaken, the chainring also is included. They should still return to a 6/4 Titanium chainring. It can't be a cost thing, they're still using 6/4 Titanium on the XTR cassettes.
ОтветитьI'd like to give you a tip: enable simultaneous audio translation.
ОтветитьThese new xtr cranks are a joke! The last one was more advanced and complicated to producent… and the old 9100 was 450gr (60 gr lighter) 9100 was soooooo much better and lighter! 😂
ОтветитьThe classic design allows more dirt and grime to get into the pinchbolt area on the cranks, not sure if thats a good idea compared to a more sealed and machined design that eliminates the pinchbolts...
Also, is anybody going to notice the stiffness the extra 19% yields or at that point, would it just be a placebo?
I use shimano cranks 100 percent of the time. Even on MTB's that are SRAM gears - DUB BB's wear out too quick for me...
ОтветитьWhat were the "issues" regarding the previous generation cranks? I have the 9125 (55mm chain line) and have no problems at all. The new/old pinch bolt area collects crap and I do know that there were some problems with people not torquing the bolts accurately so over or under tightening.
ОтветитьShimano cranks been very reliable for me.
Ответить😁 165 nice , I’m not sure witch I would like , I still run Raceface , mmhmm the bb bearings are small balls , I believe 52 chain line . The new rings heavier because they have the bash area beefed up I think .
ОтветитьI love the classic design crank preload and I like the previous design logo.
ОтветитьLove the packaging. Pretentious boxes that people just throw away are the dumbest things ever.
ОтветитьI use sram xo cranks with an Absolute Black chainring for HG+. I got it cheaper than XTR and it is lighter.
ОтветитьAre they sourcing chain rings from ZRACE? looks just like my direct mount ZRACE chain ring that I took off cause I decided I didn't like how it looked
ОтветитьI run XT cranks on two bikes (M8100). Other than them being black they have been excellent. Love the steel ring too.
ОтветитьNew cranks looks much better. Classic Shimano mount also best
ОтветитьI have a Superboost bike, but haven’t seen a traditional 9230 variant. Any word for Superboost?
ОтветитьI prefer the previous one.
