Great video Pete! A proper review and I like the fact you’ve shown the cost difference, but also the options.
ОтветитьThink we need a comparison with Takomo
ОтветитьGreat video Pete but I would like to point out that I just looked at purchasing a 5-pw set of CB’s at £605 and then on the next step they added £127 on because the prices you specify on the video are excluding the 20% vat so the cheapest set is actually £732 or £800 for 4-per then you have to add shipping to it , so please be aware of that
ОтветитьAre Tour Pros using them and winning???
Theres your answer…….
Do they make left hand???
Theres my answer
Shaft upgrades are usually extra no matter what club maker one typically goes through. These sound interesting, may have to take a look at them.
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't you give them a go. Makes complete sense to me.
ОтветитьCan you review their wedges ? nice job btw!
ОтветитьBeen playing the original MBs for 2 years and can’t say enough about how much I love them. I went from GINORMOUS Cobra SS-I Oversized these and I am actually more accurate and consistent 😂
ОтветитьI'll probably get some hate mail for this, but, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find an average golfer (5-25 HC) that could honestly tell if a difference in shot outcome with 2 different contemporary clubs could be attributed to differences in the clubs or differences in the quality of each strike. And it could be virtually ANY 2 clubs, excluding blade vs GI irons. Most average golfers simply do not possess the consistency required. Mizuno, Haywood, Miura, Takomo? Unless you are a pro or a +handicapper, these days you may as well purchase based on looks (and feel) and budget. And these Haywoods sure do look pretty 🙂
ОтветитьTakomo next 👌🏻
ОтветитьI own the cb's and gamed them for the last 6 months and they are holding up quite nicely. Much better than the new levels I bought and as a lefty it was nice to get a forged set that wasn't game improvementy or look clunky behind the ball. Plus these guys are local to my city so I was wanting to support them.
ОтветитьLove your review videos.. I REALLY appreciate how you give little bits of information that a lot of other reviewers don’t seem to do and honestly seeing a pro give an opinion on CBs over a blade is refreshing. Seems a lot of reviewers are so locked in on blades. Great job ! Love reviews on the lesser known clubs
ОтветитьI've got a set of the Haywood Signature irons. Overall they perform well, but the graphite shaft on the 9 iron just inexplicably broke near the ferrule - something that I had not experienced before.
My 2c is that if one has a PXG fitter nearby then go for PXG iron on sale - the 0211 are a real bargin. But if you don't have a PXG fitter close by then might as well go with the Haywood.
It’s very simple why these are so cheap- they’re open model forgings made in China by slaves.
If your irons and wedges are made anywhere but Japan- they’re made by slaves. And no, Mizuno doesn’t count.
I went to Haywood, received a fitting, and ordered a combo set (MB P-7, HB 6-4). Best money I've spent, I cannot speak highly enough of the brand in my experience. Josh and the other guys offer top-level everything at a much more reasonable price. Feels great to support a local brand too (as a Canadian).
Ответитьid love to have those clubs
ОтветитьEvery single brand charged about £15-£20 a club for Tour Issue DG shafts
ОтветитьThese remind me of the much older Cleveland 588 irons from the late 80's-90's in appearance , which were small cast blades, 588p was the shallow cavity back version. Especially the black/white longish ferrules,,, those Clevelands were skinny little things but actually quite playable. Nice looking clubs there.
Ответитьew iron covers, bag rattle makes the blade
Ответить👍🐊🏌🦅🇺🇲
ОтветитьI have a combo set (5-7 CB / 8-PW MN) that I’ve been gaming since September 2022. I’m in love. They are consistent, the feel is just amazing, and the looks unrivaled in my books.
I did buy the wedges too (50, 54, and 58) and do love them a lot. I do agree about the digging, but overall I’m more than satisfied.
I’d give Haywood and the owner Josh an 11/10 score. I’m a Haywood guy now for life.
Great video! Would be great if you could do a build a bag series for golfers on a budget, avoiding the larger more expensive brands
ОтветитьMany premium brands, if not all offer custom options for their retail price, if not really exclusive options are selected. 990 compared to 890 is not that big, if you get fitting included. And get your hands on the merch.
ОтветитьHey @peterfinchgolf . Just wanted to let you know that I have been contacted twice, via reply to comments, that I have been selected for a giveaway. The sender info is not @peterfinchgolf and one wanted me to contact them through a messaging app that you have to pay for to use. Just wanted to let you know what was going on in your comments on your channel.
ОтветитьI'm not a good golfer. I had some SiM irons I hated. I ditched those and got Haywood Signature Irons and quite like them.
I also opted for White Ferrules.
I've got haywood's combo since 9 month, and i love it 😘
Ответитьi have a mb/cb combo set (MB up to 8 iron, CB 7 through 4) i just don't play enough to not be in a game improvement set, so I picked up some ping G425s that I love. if anyone wants the Haywood set at a fair price, let me know.
ОтветитьCB look like the Titleist 712
ОтветитьTo be fair, most of the extra cost of your configuration was based on the shaft (150£). A premium shaft will cost you extra in almost all scenarios not matter what brand you buy. Therefore I think what you say is a little bit misleading. Most golfers will be completely fine with the standard Dynamic Gold shaft.
ОтветитьThe site is simple, but it's something I see with loads of sites, and they don't put in the standard lie angle of the clubs. Even just the 7 iron. Titleist for example, and really upright, and Mizuno are flatter, but if there's no reference point to something you know, or play, how do you know if you need them flatter or more upright than standard?
ОтветитьI think it would be interesting to hear your thoughts after a head-to-head with those and Takomo irons.
ОтветитьYou should do Maltby Clubs, from the golfworks catalog, I was looking at the TS1 irons. 4-P, G $465
ОтветитьThis is the 1st time i have ever seen/heard of them but let me say they look a stunning set of irons, my only concern is how would you get a proper fitting?
Asking this as iron head weights differ from manufacturer to manufacturer
Which did you like better, the Takomos or the Haywoods? I feel like the Takomo 301 and these Haywoods would be very comparable.
ОтветитьWill these irons be in the latest addition of Finich not Grinch giveaway 🤔
ОтветитьThese MB irons are for players …. as he hits it to within 5 feet 😅
ОтветитьSo beyond excited to get my CB/MB combo set I just ordered! Used to play the JPX919, went to a more game improving irons but really wanted to get that forged feel back! The price and looks of these clubs had me at hello! Also went with the white/silver ferrule’s!
ОтветитьHaywood is how clubs should be sorted in my opinion. Great stuff
ОтветитьBeen playing these since the beginning of 2022. Very soft strike (in a good way) compared to my JPX 800 pro irons they replaced. Felt so good I got the driving iron too (copper finish). I get so many compliments from them. Design and finish stands out from the rest.
ОтветитьPeter, in your video you said that you can’t get custom fit….I have been playing Haywood irons and wedges for a year now and there is an option to be custom fit at Haywood in Vancouver. I don’t live in Vancouver so I reached out to Haywood directly and left a message, Josh (the owner of Haywood) called me back!!! Yup the owner!!! We discussed for a half hour what I needed and wanted in my set of irons. I went from a 2.8 hdcp to a .8 hdcp with the CB irons. I can pretty much guarantee that the customer service at Haywood is second to none. Best golf investment I have ever made and to anyone thinking about buying these sticks…DO IT!!!! For a full set of irons and wedges was just over 1000$ Canadian. Amazing!!!! Josh if you read this I will be buying a new wedge and probably a driving iron to replace my 5 wood this year.
ОтветитьThank you for the thorough review. With direct to consumer it is difficult to make a decision, and you helped me make mine. Cheers for that. Heading to Haywood now.
Update: Just ordered my combo set and three wedges. Huzzah.
I would love to have some but can't afford them. I am retired and on fixed income.
ОтветитьNever heard about these before you popped up on YT. Must say they are the cleanest clubs I’ve ever seen😮
ОтветитьLow handicapper considering the Haywood CB’s or the 301 CB’s from Takomo
They both look amazing and from the reviews have appropriate forgiveness with a buttery feel
OK Peter just ordered a set of CB's. You should be working for Haywood...lol...actually living in Canada too there are no extra taxes or fees getting them into the country. And too your review and a couple other reviews on these clubs have been very positive. Thank you
ОтветитьYou should look into byrdie golf designs and do a review on them. They make some beautiful forged irons. And they are even cheaper than these.
ОтветитьSo Haywood or Takomo.. which is better or do u prefer
ОтветитьI have the Haywood CB's love them
ОтветитьAre these not just Takomo with a different name? It wouldn't be like a factory in China to make multiple identical items under a different name...
ОтветитьI love how we associate iron type to handicap. What if their handicap is high because they suck at putting/chipping or driving. Here’s a thought. Buy a club that is harder to hit and learn to strike a ball properly. Actually work for it.
