No, the mainstream historians and researchers do not give credit because it could violate what they had been trying to achieve for the past 500 years - to create a Scientific society which is separate from Religious concepts which they labelled "mythology" and shoved aside. Giving Hinduism credit could decredit their own attempt to create such society.

That is why even famous scientists like Michio Kaku and Neil DeGrasse could not talk about Hinduism or Buddhism (which borrows a lot from Hinduism) and often pretend these belief system does not exist.

Humans never lived in multiverse and cant. Its the replica of earth. In other dimensions or universes we live as energy or plasmoids maximum . Materialisation of body is only possible on earth. Here the purush is vishnu and ram is the micro model on earth of vishnu. Vishnu is never a man but a cosmic energy or soul. Embodiments are only five. Parasuram Ram Vaman Krishna and kalki. Buddha is a myth non historical and others are anime forces not embodiments. There is only five avatars of invisible vishnu. Kalki is the last man. Varaha etc are forms and not human avatars. Life was only evolving back then. Even if we gather all forms , total are 9 excluding non historical Buddha ( just a copy of mercury god Budda).

Krishna was just a messenger. He explained the Upanishads to Arjun. Cosmic theory is explained in the Vishnu puranas.

Ignorance or Ajnana leads to religions and immerse in worldly affairs,intolerance,selfish & conflicts.
While Jnana or Knowledge & Wisdom leads to Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism of cosmic consciousness, inclusiveness and equality & right to coexist for all species in universe.
