I had the Australian version of the Vega. An LX hatchback. Pale blue, mini tubs, 9inch strange rear end. It had a 383 backed up by a turbo 400. Made 560bhp. Tough car bit I sold it to raise money for other builds

Got a 77 Vega 6inch over stock glass frt hood and hatch all aluminum interior chrome molly and mild steel former pro stock dana 60 w/ 4.88 15x32 stones 406 ci ..powerglide w8 inch runs 5.70s 1/8 drives like a caddy straight down the pipe ..with some NOS 4s real possibility.

Couldnt get on it?

I've always thought Vega V8 conversions were awesome looking. Like a Corvette/Corvair had a baby.😂
There aren't many around now that you mention it.
My friend in 1980s had one in Ft. Lauderdale, back then they were basic small block v8 conversions. It was just a v8 with a cool paint. White with brown, tan stripes down the sides. An 80s build. It could pull the front wheels, 350, 4 sp.
I think the 72,73 body was better looking, the 74 got stretched a little, 4 taillights..
They're the type of car that looked cooler in person than in pics.
That 74 is maxed. I didn't catch its name like the others have, maybe I missed it, I'm ready for the drive.😁

That’s so funny about the car show because I have a 73 vega that I drive on the street. I go to crusin the coast and people always come up and ask what it is. I love my car though it’s sooo fun.

Built a 70 vega with my bro(he passed away last year). Chris Alston 4link rear,Turbo400 with trans brake, lil 5.3 with btr cam and matching valve train on a big shot. Went 9.4s last pass. Just got it back on the road. Will be back at track soon enough

My oldest brother put a V8 / 4 speed / 12 bolt / in a brand new 73 vega he just bought my farther also shit when found out .

Awesome build, great craftsmanship! Graduated from Whittier high school in the late 70's and cruised Whittier Blvd which always had some built Vegas.

I lived in Azusa up until 1977, i went to Irwindale a few times as a kid.

Only thing that could have made it better is if it was a wagon like I seen in mags back in the 70's.

My boss had a vaga that had a 350 and nitrous in it. He gave me a ride in it and at 60mph it could smoke the tires. He would put slicks on it for the track. It seems like it would do the quarter in the 9s.

I remember when they came out. Always loved this body style. Nose reminds me of early 70s camaro.

REALLY loose converter. One a bit tighter could make it more streetable.
