Sack China for now, Hope Patriot can send some spares to their Mongolian distributer and head to Mongolia for repairs?
EDIT - Great news that Patriot are helping, very good from them, and that the Mongolians are an option. Hope you get through China, if not there is always a Russian transit visa for the other way round.

Fuel bladders are commonly used by adventure motorcycle riders to extend range. You are supposed to empty them into your tank as soon as the fuel level has gone down enough. They are not designed for storing fuel. All manufacturers of fuel bladders state this on their websites. Fuel bladders have a limited lifespan, the seams will eventually fail. I record how many km I have travelled with fuel in my bladders and discard them after I reach 1000 km. I don't understand why someone driving a 4wd would use fuel bladders when rigid jerry cans (plastic or steel) can easily be mounted securely. Don't blame a product used incorrectly for an unfortunate accident.

This is a total disaster but ye will get through it. It will also take the channel to a whole new audience. It would be wonderful if ye can document the repair process.

Ps your cinema shots are awesome, quite unbelievable. Your channel is going to grow and grow. Just keep focusing on the positives as ye always do.

I'm glad you're moving ahead and offer the cautionary suspicion that 'chafe' was the cause for the fuel leak. The product is likely faultless. My conclusion is from the prospective of a cruising sailor that's become aware of how rapid an onset and catastrophic a result can develop from chafing. Best future wishes and safe travels.

Life is full of spanners trying to knock you down. It’s how you face them and deal with thats key. As sad and frustrating as it is, it’s part of the journey and rich tapestry of experiences you’ll have on your adventures. Keep going and roll with what’s thrown at you, the puncture being another spanner! As soft and daft as it sounds, you’ll all be the better and richer for it and look back in the future with your kids and smile. (I did a major road trip 40 years ago in a VW Splitty, every breakdown and accident was an adventure in itself. It’s still part of my memories and those of us that did the trip - its binds us together 40 years on. . We wouldn’t have swapped it for the world). Anyway, fairPlay to Patriot. Look forward to the next chapter. 👍

putting a rubber bag full of gasoline over the place where you sleep and cook, what can potentially go wrong? Nothing, absolutely nothing, as these bags were "pressure tested" by the manufacturer. You both adults, prey that this didn't happen while you were sleeping. I am sorry, but this was a stupid decision. You just got lucky as hell.

Your trailer reminds me of one that my parents designed for our camping trips. It had a dedicated section for cooking with drawers for plates and dinner ware. It had separate compartments for food, pots & pans, section for the cooler, and storage for the tent and pools. There was even camping gear stored on the camper top. Many wonderful trips were completed with this setup, to Nova Scotia, Northern Michigan, and the Smoky Mountain. Hope you get to continue your journey?

Hi, when something go very bad, something will go very good. One question, from what i hear cant enter Western China because of Uighur population situation. How did you managed to get permision to enter Western China, what price for visa, for how many days and what this thing involve? This would be good update info for all people interested to travel cross-China these days. Thanks.

One of the reasons why the Grenadier is not really suitable for overlanding is the very limited fuel capacity and no real options to add an additional fuel tank underneath. Glad you guys are okay and no one got hurt.

Get the fuel off the roof of your vehicle. You definitely do not want a repeat on your truck. This is a salient lesson. Have your fuel in Jerry cans and mounted on a rack that can easily be ripped from the vehicle. And wherever you have fuel, carry a foam extinguisher. So glad you're all safe.

Thank goodness for the people that appeared from the hills to help fight the fire, the shepherd who helped by insisting on a ride on his horse because that was all he could give, and of course patriot trailers for realising the value you bring to their business too and also deciding to give to help your trip. All strangers really, and yet helpers. There’s a lot to take in from all of that. Great video as always.

Really sorry to see this happened but I’m happy no one was hurt. With the combination of the gasoline and the propane, it could’ve been much worse.
Glad you’re getting support from patriot campers and from the online community. Sometimes these disasters are a DeltaPoint, meaning it might be time to change your plans up a little bit. If you can afford to keep going with your plan to go to many places across the globe, then great. If not Plan B might be to scale back your ambitions a little bit until you get a little more on your feet. Plus I would recommend that you look at larger campers like the NDC line, that will allow your family to grow into the camper. I raise and deliver sell boats 🚤 and can tell you from experience that a family will outgrow a small boat within a matter of five or fewer years. So it’s better to buy some thing that is a little too large right now that you can grow into. Plus you’ll be more comfortable in four solid walls.
