Simple. 99% of those the use these "bodyguards" they use them to show-off. None of these mountains of fat or muscles is bulletproof. So, to take out 4 of these, costs less than 4 dollars (not sure how much costs a bullet today). If the fear of these "VIPs" is someone to slap them, then these mountains can do the job. But if they want to stay alive, they need serious professionals and .... just copy how Secret Service protects the President and do it in smaller scale.
