ОтветитьGreat vid👍maybe one day I be able go USA and see this awesome tractor, it most recognise concept tractor because of its orange paint n how square shape with small leads. Definitely ahead of its time n more practical then International HT-340.
ОтветитьYes we had 4 d 21 allies Chalmers then tractors were never in a garage except for changing oil and filters
ОтветитьThats excellent engerneering👍🏻
ОтветитьI was wondering where this was. I can remember seeing it in the Smithsonian in the 1960s.
Ответитьlooks slow as all buggery
ОтветитьI had read about this experimental AC tractor years ago, and always wondered where it ended up..... I am happy to see it resurface after all these years! 👍
ОтветитьIt’s too bad they didn’t make these tractors in production run I think they would have been perfect for the field and yes they were ahead of their time but I think they would have gotten the job done in a more energy efficient way and would have been efficient in general at the same time it’s a shame that these did not get produced just a styling of them is pretty unique and cool looking you have to love that front grill
Ответитьstill ahead of its time
ОтветитьJust another example of Allis Chalmers leading the industry by years
Ответитьi saw this tractor and AC even made some sales flyers for it but it never went into production. it was at the springfield il fair one year where it was on display.
Ответить"A head of its time" they gave up so its "a failure of time"
ОтветитьHas this Fuel Cell tractor ran ever since it was parked? It would be amazing to see, P.s I'll have to try n go next year! My B-day is the 4th.
ОтветитьHow dose it operate ? Very cool🚜🇺🇸👍
ОтветитьFor when it was and what it was, that is truly remarkable. That no one picked up the technology is the question. It is called a learning curve for a reason.
ОтветитьA tractor still ahead of it's time!
ОтветитьWow, cool how about that. Awesome. 😀👍🇺🇸
ОтветитьI remember seeing a gm fuel cell van in a popular mechanic mag from 1971.
Ответитьwonder what research & development cost for that.
ОтветитьThey just don't have the torque a Diesel has
ОтветитьReply to Brad not Landa
I loved seeing the lab coats playing farmer.
Hi from italy! we still use fiat- allis tracked tractors for plowing with 1,2 or 3 bottom plows here!
ОтветитьLOTS of A/C stuff was ahead of it's time!
ОтветитьOr you could just run a tractor with a propane manifold. Same by product, no redundancy
ОтветитьYes, ahead of its time. In the recent decades, fuel cell technology was offered a possible savior for us in our battle against "Global Warming." Obviously, it's still ahead of its time. Very little has been done to implement fuel cells and to our world and now that climate nuts blame CO2 for "Climate Change," the CO2 portion of the exhaust from fuel cells makes it a "Politically Incorrect" option. Thank God outer space is not threatened by "Global Warming" or "Climate Change." If it was, the CO2 exhaust would prohibit us from using fuel cells in any type of satellite, probe, or spacecraft.
ОтветитьSo it runs on propane but less efficiently than just burning the propane due to fuel cells running at low efficiency generally
ОтветитьIt's very sad to watch this.Just think about how far ahead A-C would be today if it was still in business??..
ОтветитьThis division od AC became Teledyne, they now specialise in analysing gas detection instrumentation.
I use to sell gas analysers .
If the efficiency of this fuel cell system is significantly higher than that of gasoline or diesel, it would appear that in today’s world of stringent emission and fuel consumption standards that it could be a strong competitor to electric cars.
ОтветитьLicense plate is gone
ОтветитьIs it known why it was taken out of demonstrations and donated to the Smithsonian?
ОтветитьWish this had been developed further.
