Girl, you need to get married, and get off the streets 😂
Ответитьst valentines day - major, it just has a local holiday on the same day which is the day of the patron saint of winemakers, so they kind of work together seamlessly
Halloween - sort of new and all kids love it, its just that when most people live in apartment buildings its sort of hard to trick or treat. Halloween parties are everywhere tho
Thanksgiving - no one local celebrates it
Forget about the lower taxes in BG, there is talk of removing the flat tax and implementing a progressive! Also the VAT for restaurants will be raised to 20% from 6, so prices there will be going up.
ОтветитьCanada is not for everyone, its always good to explore opportunities back home in Europe eh?
ОтветитьThis one comes from a local, 100% Bulgarian:
To your questions:
1. The "common" holidays between America and Bulgaria are Christmas, Easter and New Years Eve. We do honor some "imported" holidays like Halloween and St. Valentine and you can experience some festivity around them. The rest of the holidays are "local" and I am sure you will love them :) No more spoilers.
2. Medical insurance - a regular check up in private clinic by general practitioner costs between 50 and 80 USD. If you don`t end up being hospitalized ( fingers crossed ) , probably you will be good paying for health care only as you need it. To be on the safe side, you can get a medical insurance package which would cost you about 250-300 USD per year.
3. When it comes to shopping, I don`t think there are too many items of interest which cannot be found in local stores and would require trip to another country
4. Cuisine is as rich as it can get, especially in Sofia. There are good restaurants founded by immigrants from all over the world, probably not at Canadian scale though. You can find good Asian, Indian, Mideastern, Tex-Mex and of course local stuff. Besides the local stuff, the other big highlight is Mediterranean food. Literaly every neighborhood restaurant offers good Med food.
5. Pop culture - our culture is so blended with American at this point that I don`t think you will find any big gaps. People watch and talk about the same movies and TV shows on Netflix as everywhere else. The exception here is sports. We don`t follow american football, baseball or hockey, so if you are into this you might not find your right flock.
Happy travelling ! You will love it in here :)
We have Black Day but its a scam
ОтветитьWe have Black Friday and Cyber Monday but it's not a holiday. They are in the last week of November. About the drivers, they are not better now, i would say it's even worse. We are N2 in Europe by road deaths after Romania.
ОтветитьAlso pop culture in Bulgaria is very similar to the US, as since the fall of the communism a lot of tv shows, movies, music, way of living like celebrating Halloween and so on have been introduced. For example I am 35 years old and have been growing up watching Friends, Married with Children, Two and a half man, all Hollywood movies, Cartoon Network. You will find out that pop culture is pretty much like in Canada and the rest of the western world.
ОтветитьTo Bulgaria ??? OMG
This year's Black Friday in Bulgaria is on November 15. Other popular holidays are also celebrated. Halloween, Valentine's Day, etc. We love the same artists you do. Ed Sheeran had a concert recently in Sofia.
ОтветитьMost of the information that you have is still the same. You don’t need any healthcare plan; private hospitals are much better, and they’re not expensive. If you need someone to rent a car at a normal price, I have the right person. If you need some more information, you can ask. Good luck! 👍
ОтветитьThanks again for sharing. Looking forward to more about your visa process 😀. Wishing you all good things! I am sure you will be able to make friends in Bulgaria. It was our experience that because there's not not many native English speakers in the country they are eager to practice their english. We had an airbnb host that helped us read Bulgarian and we were so grateful 🙏.

ОтветитьWhat is the purpose of this video? Why is such a drama? You seem to have so much time on your hand. Go help Cubans, Palestinians or Ukrainian.
ОтветитьMarried with children, Alf, Raimond family, Malklmn (spelling probably wrong) and many other US shows is what I grown up in Bulgaria with. Shopping is not the best is Bulgaria.Driving in BG is crazy. Knowing the life in Bulgaria is easy, just bring cash, most things are straight forward. Specially the country is not densely populated so most of the things are happening much faster (at least in the private sector).
ОтветитьWellcome and I hope you could settle at your best. You could write me to help yopi with some sort of things!!!!
ОтветитьHey, Alina! I am teaching Bulgarian as a Foreign language, and I'm from Sofia. There are pretty cool meetings on a weekly basis ,,Bla bla exchange language'', where foreigners gather for cultural and language exchange. I am so happy to see people coming to Bulgaria, whilst Bulgarians dream of leaving! And also I am following your vlogs from years! Добре дошла!!! 😊
ОтветитьYou will be happy, just remember Star Road !
ОтветитьHave a nice day! - Приятен ден! 🙂
ОтветитьYou are chaming, such us all CANADA!!! Canada will be best !

ОтветитьThere any bobys fight four you ! I''m North Dackota! !!! I"am Fight for you TOMOHAOYUHGHT!
ОтветитьI love you Canadian. I love you USA| You are will the best. I'l fhight for y_uor.
ОтветитьFight, Fight, Fight,!!!
ОтветитьIf you speak Russian in Bulgaria will be understood also from many people.
ОтветитьBulgarians use “sharena sol” on every food. Whatever you do, don’t try pizza 🍕 with this on it. Also do try Bulgarian tarator. I like it better than the Macedonian version. I have seen Old El Paso taco seasoning in the grocery in Macedonia. And in Sofia they have an Ikea, if you’re craving soft serve ice cream. I am not a fan of Sofia Chinese food. Bulgaria has the absolute best feta cheese….creamy and perfect. Bulgarian and Macedonian music are pretty similar. The pop musicians that are women dress like straight prostitutes, and if you have a great sense of humor some of the men have hilarious videos. Private hospitals are the way to go…unless you don’t mind waiting too long. You will see Halloween celebrations, no Thanksgiving either. You can still shop Amazon though. I think the shopping is good in Belgrade. The drivers in the Balkans are the worst, especially at night on thin and curvy roads! Mopeds, motorcycles, bicycles, big trucks all on the roads at the same time make you throw your hands in the air! If you need anything done at an official government office sometimes slipping some levs in the documents may help you. I believe you will make some really great friends that can be just like family. Our neighbors in Macedonia are so close to me…even when my language skills aren’t the best. You will have a blast…just have patience. So excited for you!
ОтветитьGreat top ten list Alina! Well thought out and it makes a lot of sense.
ОтветитьIf I go back to Bulgaria the first think that comes to my mind I'll miss is Costco 😇
ОтветитьThis is a well prepared and thoughtful presentation. Thank you, Alina.
ОтветитьCanada is done.
ОтветитьI work with a great colegue of mine here in Canada 🇨🇦 who is from Bulgaria 🇧🇬.
ОтветитьI love Canada from india
ОтветитьAlinochka .. you leave us for Bulgaria 😊
Ответитьdont worry till 2050 it will make no difference where on the planet you live. Everybody will be even paid and live the same way, just everything unified. Perfect communism = Globalism
ОтветитьGreat choice about Bulgaria! Not sure if you landed already. there are regular events that are called bla bla. You may need to switch your event location in Facebook to see them though. I've been to 2-3 and people from everywhere are having nice conversations and having a beer or two.
ОтветитьI married a Bulgarian, I am Mexican. I think Bulgarian people are very genuine and the food is great :) I like tarator
ОтветитьIs Bulgaria warmer?
ОтветитьBulgaria is very suitable for low-income EU citizens, because they legally can buy a cheap real estate or just a land. Also Bulgaria is against LGBT, еven this year, our parliament passed a law against LGBT propaganda in schools. So Bulgaria become the ideal place for all Europeans, who do not want their children to be brainwashed and degenerated.
ОтветитьDidn't say you speak Ukrainian or something? Just to let you know Bulgarian is the easiest Slavic language - no noun cases, you should be able to get the hang of it in no time after Ukrainian if you only try!
ОтветитьESCAPE WOKE CULTURE, GET A MAN
ОтветитьHaha, in Canadastan english is definitely not the primary laguage. Brampton, Toronto speaking english, good luck lol
ОтветитьThe food in Bulgaria is great. No worries there! What you get in Canada and US is crap in comparison. All TV shows in America are the same. No difference in the pop culture. Healthcare sucks as much as the Canadian, being universal, so make sure you are prepared to pay the doctor. The holidays are the same and the shopping frenzy is the same. Won’t miss Canada at all. Hop on the plane and in 1-2 hours you are in Rome, Milano, Paris, Berlin or Istanbul.
ОтветитьReally?! I’m surprised to hear this. Hmm. An interesting choice:)
ОтветитьWhy Bulgaria???😮
ОтветитьСложи и български субтитри 😊
ОтветитьEven if you miss some food, which I doubt, you won't the exorbitant prices. For shopping you can even take a day trip to Istanbul, which I think is no more than a 30 min flight and it's cheap with almost all global brands present. It will be an opportunity to learn a new language, but you always mingle with people from Canada and other English speakers and if all fails, which it won't, the Canadian Embassy is always there 😉. Just one word of caution: avoid staying out at night times. On medicare, as an expat myself, I just just stick to clean eating and no stress and avoid doctors ubless it's absolutely necessary 🙂. Wish you the best with everything and look forward to your vlogs from Sophia 🙂🙏👍.
