This is great news. I've been using the cortex debug extension but it's great to have an official extension. All we need now is the ability to buy some chips

Are those stm32 boards from Aliexpress genuine MCUs?

The next thing that st eco system lacks is support with examples of standard communication protocols such as modbus, canopen, websocket and ... for stm32 in stm32cube packages.
The Chinese competitor Espressif with esp32 beat you to it long ago and I don't understand why you don't work on the development of a big joint project where you add new features to make it easier for developers to use stm32.
The STM32Cube packages offer only basic examples.
It would be better if they had a package like Espressif ESP-IDF which is much richer with examples than the stm32Cube package.
I hope you will move in that direction.
All the best in further development.

The interviewer asked about the benefits of VS Code, I suppose in the context of STM32, and the marketing manager could not explain that to be honest. Every VS Code user knows these are the basic things. I believe the main benefit is that you can have more control over your build system where you can add more custom things quickly and also, if possible, can make use of other extensions to your benefit.

I still believe CubeIDE is very good along with other Cube tools to do STM32 development. When it comes to developing for other platforms like Zephyr, they are already mostly developed using VS Code.

Have been waiting for this extension for a long time. The STM32CubeIDE was getting a bit cumbersome to use and innovation was lagging. The momentum has shifted from Eclipse to VS Code
