No, the end result makes me unsatisfied with the "Shanaplan". I think we hitched our hopes and payroll to too many who got rewarded way too early and didn't earn it. The Marner mismanagement and other questionable moves (Hyman comes to mind) are inexcusable.

He did well to build a playoff team but was unwilling to change his plan and realize that the core 4 or 5 cannot win together. He should have adapted and realized the style of play we had was not gonna win a cup. I am happy Brad triving will stay. He made some great decisions and he needs more time to work with this team. I think this is a good start to a new way for the leafs to be developed. I want patches back, Johnny t if he takes less money and Lorentz. Marner was not treated well and was mid managed. He’s a great player and will do better elsewhere but not here because of the make up of the team. He’s the odd one out.

I saw Mitch Marner at a grocery store in Muskoka yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Laughton was a terrible pick up at the trade deadline, leafs completely over paid for that bum.

I hated the Shanaplan... it started off looking good. They got a power center in the first pick of Auston Matthews and seemed to be content being patient with drafting (the right move) after years of this team band aiding and trying to take short cuts to win by plugging holes with washed up guys past their prime - Too good for a great draft pick position, and too crummy to make a playoff spot.. remember those years? Then his fatal mistake was hiring the unproven, young, and analytical Dubas and tripling down and more with the core and with Dubas himself despite plenty of evidence that Dubas's emphasis on skill only resulting in soft forwards and D were disastrous in playoff hockey. That's where it flopped and he could of traded some of those duds like Marner for some great returns ages ago. Brendan built a soft team not even close to the powerhouse Red Wings he was part of and we thought we would get and I'm relieved he's gone - Too stubborn.
