Saying Goodbye to an Icon: A Legendary Actor passed Away | Mourning the Sudden Death of a Talent
Williams' agent for 15 years, confirmed that the actor was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in an accident with a car in Dorset, Vermont. He was 71.
Jacob Gribble, the fire chief for Dorset, told People that the accident happened around 5 p.m. and involved Williams’ motorcycle and a single car, the driver of which apparently didn’t see Williams. Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead.”
The driver of the car had minor injuries and did not need to be hospitalized, police said.
Williams' break-out role was for the 1979 movie Hair, based on the Broadway musical. He also starred in Everwood as a neurosurgeon who moved his family from New York City to Colorado.
Williams is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gille and Ellie.
