Thank You . . .
ОтветитьSuperb info, as always, Scottie. I really enjoy your videos and could listen to you talk tech for hours. Keep up the good work.
I use linux, connect only when needed, connect through a VPN (I do this using a service in another country (outside of the Five-Eyes) as the government here can obtain all data from my service provider easier than they can from the third party rather than for privacy, more of an annoyance for those looking for my history), avidly keep cookies and history cleaned out, run my router through a dedicated Pi-hole acting as a DNS server, but most importantly, I stay away from Facebook, Twitter, Google, and all of those social media sites. I keep extraneous and personal files on external devices that I only connect when needed. I'm hoping this would make any breech pointless and nothing but hassle for a potential intruder.
Would it also be prudent to connect only through a VM? Bearing in mind that I only intend to prevent malicious intruders, who could damage files in my system. I already know that there is no stopping prying eyes from intercepting data, if it goes through a cable, it is susceptible! Check out a documentary called Secrets of Cornwall: Communication, it leaves no room for doubt about the capability of capturing, and storing the entire internet at GCHQ!
Best wishes from the UK.
Easy Scottie, Agree About Malware Bytes, its Good, Comodo Is Better i Rekon, Firefox Set Up Right With Right Add Ons Is Excellent, Not Had Any Prob For Years, And i Still Use Windows 7 Which in My Opinion Is Still Best Operating System. ОтветитьCan you use Malwarebytes on both a Samsung and an Apple phone or are these just for computers and laptops? I have Lookout on my Samsung and that's my old garbage phone cuz I dropped it but I have two Apple devices and I'm wondering if what you were mentioning is compatible or if Lookout is substantial
ОтветитьAha!Thanks.(*_*)
Btw:Cletus & Scotty Look A Like.
Like the shirt!
ОтветитьThanks Scottie for sharing your knowledge with us :)
ОтветитьThank you Scottie. Hi Cletus!
ОтветитьI have the red version of your shirt. It makes a good day better!
ОтветитьGreat video! My setup has long been Defender + Malwarebytes Premium, and I was also an early ZoneAlarm user! Another thing that many believe can thwart badness is to use Windows with a standard user account instead of admin - what's your view on that? At one time I was switching to a separate standard user when doing sensitive stuff like online banking, but that was just too cumbersome.
Agree that default username/password for home routers is just asking for trouble -- I've chosen to use a router with DD-WRT firmware to further shrink the target on my back...
Don't share anything you will be ashamed ot show your parents or your kids.
ОтветитьI keep all my pipelines offline. Can't be too safe.
ОтветитьI had Zone Alarm once and Lavasoft always said they were naughty. Over 4000 in registry 'endpont'.
ОтветитьBrave browser has "private mode with tor" and if you set up the brave shields correctly, you won`t have any problems with any website. I use a free unlimited vpn Psiphon. Just use a vpn with tor and you`ll be fine. I use a free firewall NetLimiter so that i can control which apps are allowed to access the internet
ОтветитьThank you for regularly teaching us so much information.... Luv the shirt....
ОтветитьI was thinking a VPN would protect me while using Coffee Shop Wifi.....
ОтветитьI opt to never use links from emails. I go direct to the website.
