The duel was one of the few time you can see Tywin genuinely worried. If Oberyn had won, he would be a massive thorn in Tywin side.

Such an amazing performance, really gave so much life to this character. Oberyn truly stood out as different than the other characters.

A man who wanted revenge for no other reason than their murders were just wrong and senseless. Nothing about honour or for the sake of the family name.

No just a man standing up and unapologetically saying this was wrong, in a place that refused to admit theit henious acts.

I had seen every death in this series without flinching but his end left me crying. Oberyn Martell was a true warrior his screams at the end horrify me

I'd never forgive martin for killing him....He was like perfect in everything and he died...Martin told truth or good wont win always that's why i killed viper but i resent him for how can he kill someone like him

Poor dude lost his cool, if it wasn't for that, he would've destroyed the mountain. A character that I'm pretty sure almost all fans hate.

When I was watching this on TV, I thought oh this one is going to be around for awhile, but wham couldn't believe my eyes(no pun intended) when he was killed and in such a gruesome manner 😢😮😮 Great acting! I felt for this character!

When you look at the ripple effect Oberyns death had on the Lannister family, you’ll feel more at peace. Tywin doesn’t get killed by Tyrion in the halls if Oberyn won, that’s just a start. The Mountain was also poisoned by him that eventually killed him but he got brought back to an undead state, + even more. Justice was served for Elia after Oberyn died.

George RR Martin always introduced the best characters then killed them off. The Viper will always be the coolest...

İmpressive character

Oberyn's character is very interesting. When watching it, I thought that he would be allocated a lot more episodes, several seasons, rather than one. He is one of those people who could put Tywin himself in his place, beautifully sarcastic, deprive people of the power of speech with his barbs, no worse than Olenna Tyrell. He had a very sharp tongue. And I think the only thing he ever wanted was to avenge his sister and nephews, who were treated as inhumanly as possible. But despite his words that he hates all Lannisters, he hated only Tywin, who was responsible for his sister's death. He was a noble and decent man. When he first saw Tyrion, he told Cersei that it wasn't a monster, trying to reason with her. And he really felt sorry for Tyrion. He knew that Tyrion did not kill Joffrey, and besides wanting to avenge the Grief for the death of his sister and her children, he really wanted justice for Tyrion as well. And he was very resourceful. And he defeated the Mountain, was able to bring him down to the ground. He just didn't finish him off, because again, for him, revenge for his sister and nephews was the most important thing. He wanted the Mountain to admit to the public that he had killed his sister and her children, he wanted justice and justice. I feel very sorry for him. His death was terrible, to put it mildly. Cruel, painful. He didn't deserve it. For what the Mountain did to Oberyn, his sister, whom he killed in the same way as Oberyn himself, and his nephews, his death, the death of the Mountain, should have been much more painful.

It's worth remembering that Oberyn got his vengeance in the end. He may have died horribly, but his poison made the Mountain wither agonizingly, deteriorating until he cannot even die as a man but simply a lumbering, armored mound of half-dead flesh. There's still a poetic justice in the Red Viper's poison taking away every part of what made Gregor a man, until all that's left of him is the hollow distillation of his violent vices which led to Elia and her children's death. Oberyn was a free man who enjoyed the pleasures of life, and his venom eventually robbed Gregor of all of them, damning The Mountain to an existence as a slave.
