The eSIM was introduced on the iPhone Xs, for those of you counting at home that’s 2018. Now to be fair ever since they went eSIM only it has been a lot easier to activate your eSIM and transferred between devices (that functionality was previously not built in and caused nightmares at genius bars trust me I know) but it wasn’t removing the Sim tray that allowed eSIM to exist lol

You can literally have both, I got both on my S25 Ultra that I bought here in Brazil. Literally just a better option

If you didn't know China has still One where you can use 2 sim cards

i use 6€ a month subscription from a brand that uses oranges network- and i get 9gb of data monthly in all of europe ( 30-35gb in my country) i literally have no issues when it comes to cell service in other countries and i use normal sim

You know you don't need to remove the sim tray to have eSim right? This is planned obsolescence and an inconvenience rather than the opposite. I have seen that you can only change your sim to a different phone only once a MONTH because of some bs security measures. Stop sucking on this predatory company's balls carter, they deserve the biggest downfall imaginable, they have ruined modern day phones.

Yup, this is dumb. Removal of the physical SIM was something literally nobody asked for, it has caused more issues than it has solved, and it is exclusive to the USA so it pretty much looks like an excuse by US phone companies to have more control over the user.

Please do not glaze on esim apps. I paid $30 for one day in Romania with TuiFly but since I still have the iPhone 12 PM, I paid $20 for a whole month of unlimited with Vodafone

My S25 Ultra has both esim and physical sim, also I'm pretty sure different regions iPhones have physical sim but im not sure about that

I heard switching phones can be a nightmare with them though. With my physical sim, i just put the sim into a new phone and carry on.

Another thing I love about those travel esims is that they’re so much cheaper than the carrier plans.

I kid you not, my carrier’s 5GB international plan costs like 3x more than an unlimited travel eSIM.

It was already a thing before the removal of the sim tray, though (which the iPhone still has, in my country). But I still switched to an eSIM as soon as my carrier allowed it.

In Canada we still have sim trays

Most of the time you just have to reconfigure your sim card, also iPhone was one of the last companies to catch onto eSims

Here in the uk i see noone using Esims becausr most providers just mail you a physical sim so removing the sim tray for our phone would be a travesty
