Frigidaire Ice Maker No Water Diagnosis and Repair

FYI. I replaced my ice maker and solenoid valve about 6 years ago. Suddenly, no ice.
I looked for the original video that helped me years ago, but yours came up. I watched it. That filling drain tube was frozen shut just like yours.

If the filling tube block up again it may be indicating that the fill valve is slowly leaking and NOT shutting off completely as it should after the fill cycle. That slow leak would cause over time the fill valve section to accumulate ice. Thanks for sharing.

My parents Kitchen Aid side by side stopped making ice last summer. Figured out that two of the wires at the bottom of the door had broke from all the years of opening and closing the freezer door. The harness seemed a little tight for my liking so I soldered in extra length and its all good now.

You rock dude! This totally fixed my problem. A caveat however: My white plastic fill tube was not majorly clogged with ice. It was just a tiny piece of ice at the connection with the supply line. It fell off when I disconnected the supply line. About the size of a pencil eraser. If I hadn't of looked on the floor I wouldn't have seen it. When I took the white tube out it was clear, and I was initially disappointed. Thanks again!

I can't get water to mine even replaced the valve.

Any tips on getting that tube out with ease ? I can see ice clogged in it but i cant twist the damn thing off from inside or out. Any tips would be appreciated

I changed the connection on the solenoid and pressed water. The water came out of the ice machine tube. Do I need to change both solenoids or can I just use the water one to run the ice machine? Obviously the water in the front of the fridge does not work and I am ok with that for now. Seems like a silly question but your video helped me get to that point 😊

Mine has no ice and water trickles for a second, and thats it. It's gotta be the solenoid pack im guessing

You said common voltage. How many volts is common voltage?

Here's a question for you. All right I have the exact same everything it looks like the same refrigerator the exact same setup. I haven't torn the back off yet I just wanted to check to see if the tube was clogged because there was a big log of ice all the way down that ramp so I figured oh it was just that so I cleared actually I didn't totally clear it I cleared the main part of it but there's still a little bit of ice in the where the threaded part is way deep in there but it's late at night so I'm not going to do it tonight. But the thing is if I press the ice maker it doesn't actuate anything it doesn't make the spiral tubing spin to pull ice forward all of a sudden and get this The drinking water isn't flowing how can all these three things be happening at the same time they're unrelated well I mean I guess no they shouldn't Val shouldn't go based on back pressure like that they're not that kind of valve solenoid shouldn't go for the basically the same reason they should be actuating but a frozen line would just not allow the water to go but water isn't coming from the other tube either lol that drinking water should flown no matter what. Although if it's a inlet filter that's clogged I can see where it would stop everything and it even slow it down enough to give it time to freeze if it was dribbling for a long time I don't know if it is a timer or if there's some kind of fill sensor I haven't looked down in there I can't imagine it would be a fuel sensor for something cheap like this I don't understand why that ice delivery tube won't turn when I actuated That's really bizarre shouldn't that be completely an independent system yeah of course it is that sucker should be turning no matter what I guess I'm going to have to open it up and look

wao I have been searching for the same problem you have, I have drinking water but no water in the ice maker, bacause of your information I am going to check clog. cause I did order solenoid from amazon it did not repair also I have order ice maker which is on its way. but I guess problem is may be clog the water line to the ice maker thanks for the work you did. You are activating the water solenoid not the ice solenoid. The ice maker activates the ice solenoid.

Thanks for this! I noticed my ice maker wasn't working and was dreading the whole diagnosis process. I never would have thought to check the plastic fill tube at the top, and wouldn't you know, it was plugged with 3" of ice. I noticed the factory was kind enough to leave out any kind of gasket for that connection so that it can happen again. I decided to just cover that whole area with foil tape. Thanks Again!

Just bought a valve from maytaga 55 bucks out the door.

I swapped the connector from the water fill valve to the ice maker valve and it did open the valve, so where do I go next?
