Why Everyone is Abandoning GoPro

I’ve had a Hero 11 black for over a year and no problems. Obviously you can’t sit and record 4k it’s not meant for that.

I’ve been extremely disappointed with go pro. I had a hero 5 that was great but got lost. Each new one has been worse. The final straw is the wind noise due to the stupid placement of its microphone. What ever I’ve tried it’s horrendous. So I’ve stoped buying go pro. Ape man was every bit as good and a fraction of the cost.

DJI is just better at everything, in my opinion

You are all saying that things to first models of GoPro.

The firmware sucks. I don't know why they can't make a simple firmware work.

I have a Hero 8 Black. It's my 1st ever "action camera," and it has its issues. It has a "stutter" about every 5 minutes when recording. It looks like the framerate suddenly drops to about 3 fps for about 3 seconds. It's not a deal breaker, but annoying nonetheless. And of course, 45 minute battery life when recording at max resolution sucks.

That and GoPro actively sued Insta for "copying" their techs on several of their Hero lineups. If you can improve its quality and stability at once, do it now and stop doing the blaming like a Californian gurl!

I want to stick with GoPro since Hero 3 and 4 have impressed me for long. My friends had one, only I was unfortunate to stick with the OG phone cam for some dodgy footage like f@#*king your wife on a couch. Now, I can't hold both sides all days: it's GoBro or Insta.

And I've made my choice.

Go pro is a total junk, they care only about money rather than customer satisfaction, too expensive for the product you get, then you have to pay for everything else, wanna wireless mic? You have to buy so many GO PRO EXPENSIVES adapters, wanna this buy this and so on... , and this just the tip of the iceberg about go pro's drawbacks, like terrible recordings at low light environments and so on and so on...

while dji made everything so straightforward packed there in once and an affordable price, definitely the dji cameras the best, go pro R. I. P. I would never ever buy another go pro again

First off, I agree fully the DJI action series and the insta 360 ace pro are both better. However the 4 was not the first one to shoot in 4k as my hero 3+ shoots 4k too

Well, what do I think of nopro well I've been a die-hard fan for over a decade but over the years I've learned that it's not my SD card or software its lack of technology and innovation. ITS HOT GARBAGE and I will never spend another dime on nopro after losing numerous once in a lifetime moments due to overheating and spending hours trying to reset and reformat my SD cards only to finally conclude nopro is HOT garbage.

I have the 12 black. I hear the points youve made but i have to balance it against my own experience. Even being rough withbit for a year ive never got crashes or overheats.

lol gopro 11 mini is pure scam it should have recalled, 99% of them has a battery issure and they simply die and stop turning off , sometime after 15minutes of total use lol. I think that's the product that defintively killed go pro.

I have a 10 Hero and bought a used $145 US DLL it is running fine but I never pretend to film more than 2.7k. Under stress, pushing for 5K or even 4K in a small package is asking for trouble. I won't risk my Sony main platform for the job done in a GoPro.

My Hero 5 Session is still working great, so no need to buy anything else. The DJI Action 2 is just copying the Session.

Go pro shit and all it is. Shit. I go no just one. I got 10 11 and promax 360. An all for what? All nothing but problems .

I was going to buy GoPro. After watching this video, I’ve decided to never buy GoPro.

The Grand Tour was going through 40+ go pros each episode. The mounts don't hold well either.

My Hero 2018 doesn't have any of these issues. Sure, granted I can only capture up to 1440p, but thing at least actually works like a charm even to this day. Must be a thing happening past Hero 9. I guess they don't build them like they used to.

I have a Hero 12 Black and have never had any problems with it freezing or overheating. I have filmed a lot in 95 degree F plus and it has never overheated on me. I must have either gotten lucky with the one I got or they have finally fixed the overheating and freezing issue. Either way I hope my luck continues, because I am thinking about buying another one. I also like that once I set the go pro up I just basically point and shoot and the images are super clear unlike my other two cameras that I have to adjust shutter speed and ISO and then manually focus the camera at a certain distance depending on what lens I am using and all the adjusting is time consuming and at times a real struggle to get a good clear video. The Go Pro is simple and easy to get great images without all the other fuss and that to me is important.

I know that this video is over a year old and I happen to agree with you with all the problems that I am having with my GoPro Hero 10. It shuts down in the middle of shooting. It shuts down if it's too hot. The reliability sucks and that is a real problem. So Insta 260 is a better choice. I also like the new DJI Action Camera. Regardless, GoPro had better step it up really fast or they will lose customers.

Still can't beat the gopro image quality sadly

I've had a number of them, they are by far the worst, most unreliable cameras for extreme water-based sports. I just came back from a surf trip used my GoPro and it would shut off every time it touched the water wouldn't turn on wouldn't turn off myriad of problems I'll never buy one again.

I bought the DJI Action 3 and it is very good. It is on sale on Amazon for 199.

Gopros are rubbish. I constantly have issues with my 10. DO NOT BUY GOPRO! and correction, they don;t make action cameras. They make expensive book weights.

I have a GoPro Hero7, Hero9 & Hero10, all except the Hero9 have worked well without any issues, the Hero9 suffers from battery issues in extremely cold weather the camera shuts off despite have 95% charge on the screen. The Hero10 has never given any issues so far.

Same old problems from one model to the next. My media mod crashes my rear screen and it takes forever more to get it to work again. At least it saves the settings so I can continue to use the thing.

Bought a GoPro Hero 10. Used it for 1 month and it now it records a black screen. GoPro agreed to send me a replacement. I'm going to sell that Hero 10 and buy a DJI Osmo 4

with millions of products, some will be defective. people are leaving gopro the same reason they leave other proven products. people feel like their camera is an extension of their personality so they need to use something different than the standard everyone else uses.

GoPRO has finally lost me forever. I've had issues with every single GoPRO I've owned since the Hero2. I'm on the Hero10. I'm done.

The same people who are saying GoPro is just fine, are the same that say: if you are broke just say so.
Insta 360 is killing go pro works just fine, app doesn't relying on subscription and edits just fine.
Its not perfect but is a way better option.

I have had a Gopro Hero 12 black and it never has had a problem. Best cam I have used. But I am getting a Gopro Hero 12 black. So we will see how that goes.

GoPro 8 black....They burn through batteries. I lost count on how many i had to order already...They overheat resulting in lost footage, outtage. The shock absorber and cam quality are great , but overall a bad product and overpriced. I will never buy one again.

1. Who would be recording anything over 30mins (alleged max run timr)? Apart from time lapse. You are not going to watch 30mins of film just to get 5sec of footage.

2. If your camera over heats , it would be because you use it very regularly for prolonged periods of time. You also want to take out the battery when you are not using it. Especially after using it for long run times. This will let it cool quicker.

3. These people putting gopro down would have had it over heat once when they where using it in 35 degree days for 25+ mins and think that it is ruined and not to buy another gopro.

4. These new brands have come into the action camera range, have had the advantages of AI, ideas from gopro and much better tech range. Gopro started without AI, no one to copy from and they had limited resources. Gopro started with around a dozen people whereas DJI and insta have had an army of brains to work with.

Trust me, gopro has had decades of experience and everyone makes mistakes and some mistakes are hard to fix, but good things will come from gopro in their hero 14 model and onwards. People saying that the design hasn't changed, gopro is sticking to their heritage. GOPRO is a great brand and look at some footage from a hero 4-7, just amazing.
