Why I Will Be Spending Less Money on SWGOH in 2025

I haven't spent ant money on this game for about 5 years. It's a scam. Whatever you spend will never be enough. The "game" is designed to be like that. Spending money on it is pointless.

I think that the best way to help with the F2P is with the marquees, there needs to be a way to gain more than 65 shards F2P (say complete the daily marquee matches for 5 shards). Get rid of the episode pass for the galactic challenge. Perhaps improving the characters to the newer ones on the episode currency shop.

Is starting to play worth it?

I'm a casual spender but with that new cadence I cannot keep up! It will come to a choice every month in between the episode pass and the conquest pass depending on which toon is more appealing to me

I'll be limiting spending as well. Not exactly comfortable with my 2024 spending when i barely spent years prior. Ironically my spending will be limited to conquest and the episode pass, which will replace the $30 marquee packs and limit how often I need the $10 relic pack. Maybe once a month I'll grab that on a Monday but 2025 I'm cutting back hard.

I hate how they made it so you have to have the episode pass to compleate the feat for compleating the battle in galactic challange

Hey Nooch, please consider getting the $5/week episode pass on your Lightspeed account, even as you dramatically cut your spending. Getting the extra five shards a day for Marquis characters, plus other rewards, is such a dramatic boost. I think it will make your content more relatable even if that is almost the only monthly spending you do. Just food for thought.

This shows me that I do not need to spend money on this game at all.

I was going to pick up the 3po bundle but thought again. Given the direction of the game I'm really not that sure that this game is going to be long term viable for me anymore. I feel I'm just going to be slipping further and further behind i really don't want to spend any money on something that I can't progress on.

For me i think the episode pass isnt a terrible idea, but how they have have changed the Galactic challanges and how they insisted on intertwining it with the pass doesnt feel good. Now you look at it and figure you dont have the teams built that you need to be able to do anyhing so you end up doing the first two just putting the Marquee on your team and then forget about it. A gamemode they surely spent time developing and want players to interact with has been made into something you auto for 2 mins and then not touch until it rolls around again and you hope it has a team you might have.
And yes even if i havent spent a lot i will def. spend less on this game going forward until they change things around.

I cannot keep up either. I will not chase the meta and become a collector. I will finish Ashoka GL, and that’s it for spending, well LSB will remain tempting.

My philosophy is different. Don't spend and won't. I just try to make the toons I have to be the best they can. Goal, get to Kyber without GL's or spending. My money only gets spent on tangible things.

I understand you 100%. Lol. Personally, I spend around $100 about twice a month simply because I genuinely enjoy the engagement I get in the game. That amount of money is where I can sit comfortably and still take care of everything else in life

My Huyang is 3 stars, I have no Tuskens or episode pass. GCs are ruined for me and no more omicrons. I could only do phase 2 which got me basically nothing. I don't even want to see the feats in Conquest tomorrow.

Totally agree with you here Nooch, I'm planning to do the same thing and massively reduce my spending with only maybe conquest pass for toons I like. I've already found it will be a lot more difficult to get projects done because I don't have the massive income of resources from spending a lot but that challenge is something that sounds fun to me, hopefully you'll enjoy that kind of thing too.

I’ve loved Nooch videos since I started playing back in February and have been a loyal listener since shortly after. But man. This has gotten depressing. Each video I can hear the sadness in his voice getting worse and worse.

Ive never really spent a ton of money till they announced GLA and i have whaled hard to get the stuff for her ...but now i wanna quit the game:(

If they are doubling the amount of marquees they should half the price to unlock them. Win win for all. If it’s cheaper more people will pick one up every now and then and whales can still get all the characters at the same price

I know I won’t be spending as much. I thought I was encouraged to spend before but had alternatives if I was willing to wait. Now I’m forced to spend if I want to keep up, and if I wait then the new characters will largely be irrelevant by the time another set of new characters are released. Not sure I even want to spend my time on it anymore.

I will also not be buying the episode pass. I just wanted to see what it was about, but buying the battle pass, and being locked behind another paywall that is part of the battle pass made me say no. They need to remove the paywall quests. Shards shouldn't be needed to episode quests. Basically nothing to do as a free player except the dailies.

As someone starting a new account, quests are no joke, in one week: lvl 67, although I feel as though my GP and team diversity is lacking.

CG is killing this game, there's a lot of people dropping the game and Content Creator unhappy with how the game has changes, players and Content Creators are valuable asset CG can afford to lose. I think CG got blind by money and they think we're a bunch of game addict enough to willingly spend whatever amount of money they want.

Every star wars multiplayer game has this sort of update. Everything is going just great then they say "People are having fun, LETS ROB THEM" Soon this game will be going the way of Star Wars Galaxies since they "fixed" that game with the combat update and monetizations. Too bad.

This is generally what I hear from everyone... People have quit entirely over this, people have dropped out of daily interactions with the game, people have stopped spending altogether. I know it's just what's going on directly around me but if this is a more global thing (and it seems to be) this must be costing CG dearly. I also went from being a dolphine to going back to F2P entirely.
I don't care about the math, I don't care about of we lost or won. The game isn't fun to play anymore. You get slapped in the face with paywalls everywhere you go in the game. They completely killed Raids with the Naboo raid and now they killed GCs. You only need to play 1 Arena battle a day so bye bye Squad Arena. It's almost like they are deliberately destroying their own game

I'd rather invest in some great vintage SW kits or vehicles and figures instead of basically throwing loads of money in the water for a few hours of game fun.
People who paid a lot of money to get somewhere in another SW phone game, SW Commander, lost everything when the game shut down.

It will be less spend in the future with all those new changes

Ive been casually playing for 8 years and have earned 6GLs all by never spending a penny. It's so refreshing to see that a person can spend thousands of dollars and have less GLs than someone that just gets rewarded by longevity and enjoying the grind.

I'll still watch regardless of how much money is spent. I don't think most of us care if you're spending or not. Use the money for something else--we don't care
