I Read TikTok's Worst Fantasy Books So You Don't Have To | Zodiac Academy

I saw one of these books at a book store and I was legitimately offended by how long it was. 800+ pages of outright slop. 10-15 years ago this would be unthinkable. Shitty books had a max page count of like 500 pages, and even then that was insane, but now people are just writing to write without any concern for quality. If these were strictly ebooks I wouldn’t have as much of a problem but these are physical books, so the waste is both time and resources.

Okay but this does sound like a USA college freshman experience at a small liberal arts school. It’s been a while but this does seem entirely possible for 18-20 year olds in parts of the US. We had “mixers” (dances) and a lot of people behaved exactly like high schoolers for at least the first year if not forever. So even if they’re not men, I do think the authors being English is a lie.

I think they are doing what I call the doki doki method where the characters should be underaged like the school feels like a high school but they make the character 18 soo people can simp for them but at least Dan Salvoto just straight up made a dateing sim

Goddamn man, I can understand someone wanting to explore dangerous scenarios in the safety of a book/movie/game, but they should at least have standards. I'm in disbelief at how bad the writing is, it's below the level of erotic media, which is pretty much already at the bottom of the barrel.

Characters sounding the same. You know, one of Stephen King's books is guilty of this, in a way. I can't remember which one it was, apart from the fact that it's one of his older ones. The entire series never answers my biggest question from the very beginning of book one: who sent Lance Osborne to retrieve the twins in the first place and why bother?

from what I gathered average rent for Chicago in 2021 was $2,349... all other plot holes aside, the rent price really destroyed my immersion. The physical pain and cringe I experienced due to the writing style is one thing, the strange... very strange, weirdo descriptions of these cookie cutter 'dreamy' men are making me, a gay man, feel disgusted with the concept of men, and masculinity.

One thing this rotting sludge some call a book proves though, is that sexuality is definitely not a choice- as, who in their right mind would ever find the love interests even remotely attractive. Crumbs...

I'm on the fourth book in the series and while I like almost nothing about them, I do like the bare bones of the plot. The writings bad, the editing is bad, the characters/love interests suck, I don't care for the bullying aspect, the way the books end make me think that these books were all written at once and she just gets to about the 400-500 page mark and picks a place to stop. All of that being said, the idea of the story is interesting enough for me to want to see where it goes, so I keep reading them, hoping they get better as the story goes on.

What I find funny about them connecting lava to Fire is that they're doing the opposite of what I'm doing with my stories. In my world fire falls under the domain of Air, because I think about the stuff I write. Fire is technically hot air, so if you think about it it really shouldn't be its own element. And yes, lava is definitely under the domain of Earth.
