I've had nightmares with WiFi phones from LG IPECS in the past, this could be a good solution for some of my customers

Curious if you have fast roaming enabled in Unifi, and if it does or doesn't help w/ audio cutting out.

Wow, we kinda have the same set up, I have an edge router 4 and 4 access points, but I'm all on one floor. Basically an AP in each corner of the house, two AC-HD's on the most used side, an AC-Pro, and an AC in wall in the garage. When I first moved here years ago, cell service was crap, so I had to rely on wifi calling. I had the same issue with a brief lost of audio when roaming, but I checked "fast roaming" and it fixed it. I know you know about that option, I've just noticed after some updates, I've had to go in, uncheck it and provision, then re-enable it and provision for it to work properly again. I also noticed the other day that my some of my SSID settings had been defaulted and I had to re-enable them. So now after every update I make sure I check everything. Anyway, I know you know this crap more than me, just rambling I guess. Always enjoy the content man!

I'm a Grandstream Guru on the forum (not a successful pickup line) I've sold and supported a wide variety of systems. They all drive me crazy for various reasons. I've settled with Grandstream. Still drives me crazy but I love it.

These phones would be awesome if they just had either rj45 or usb ports to connect to wired ethernet. Wait, it does have a micro usb port. I wonder if you can connect a micro usb to rj45 adapter and use it on wired ethernet? Bah, nevermind, the micro usb port is apparently only for charging.

We use Spectralink in Government in Queensland Australia and they work well. They never drop out. Spectralink are good as they have rugged cases you can get - Not sure about cases for the WP810/820s though.

Can you please do a version of this video that gets into the nitty gritty of setting up a voip/wifi phone system in a home as an alternative to DECT systems? I would "like" the HELL outta that video.

Do you know any easy to do solution for dispatcher to choose which call from the queue he wants to answer? And not the first call in the queue (the longest waiting one).

It's weird to hear you saying that it's complicated to configured the PBX from GrandStream, i think it's really easy and it's a great solution, but, everybody has their opinion.

Man, the WP820 would (could) be a perfect replacement for an airport / ground handling radio setup (at least if it was waterproof, or a decent case). 8 hour shifts, multiple group and direct calls through the PBX, an OS which could run custom apps (say to trigger announcements, manually update screens, even work with dispatch data which can change at a moment's notice), and of course can roam freely throughout the airport on already installed infrastructure, with no radio channel limits and (relatively) crystal clear audio that could even be used to make announcements from anywhere in the building. Even if it can't be used outside, it could interface with existing radio systems (which are usually PBX based / connected anyway) and beat them on price for those who are usually inside. Most calls would be done while stood still, so probably jumps probably wouldn't be a huge problem, and at the price it would be a steal, especially in smaller airports where staff serve multiple roles and move around a lot

A good way to use the two accounts is to set up one for the local WIFI and the second to the same extension but the external ip address. then can use the phone while out of the office as if still in office.

Hi Chris. We recently changed from hosted to onsite PBX using Freepbx. I am currently struggling to connect the wp820 to freepbx. I have done the Fanvil x3 without any problems. Both phones worked perfectly with the hosted server (I do not know what software was used).

Could you please give me some advice? I am in South Africa.

Thanks,
Marlin

I'm wondering if these phones can be paged with audio? Meaning when someone does a page all, normally the yealink desk phones will play the audio over the speaker phone.....will these cordless phones do the same thing? Play the paged audio over the speakerphone?

Has anyone been able to get them to run successfully on a Cisco network? I've had these phones in two different facilities that were both Cisco infrastructure, and the phones are horribly inconsistent. We have the phones on a dedicated voice vlan and dedicated 2.4 and 5ghz SSID. The phones themselves are using default traffic and QoS settings. If anyone can help, that would be great!

I have used the Grandstream WP 810 for a while. I can take it with me traveling and connext to a number of hotels and public wifi sites, then get my calls at that location. for longer stays, I carry a wifi router, connext that to a hotel wifi so I can reach a pool or courtyard (a higher power router). Folks call mjy house, and reach me anywhere! I very much like that wifi phone! I can also control the wifi security, say with using VPN!

After a renovation we're getting our VOIP phone service hooked back up. Since VOIP phones use an ethernet connection I assume this Wifi VOIP phones would work for me? I don't want to have to run ethernet cables from the phone modem to the phone set upstairs in our study.

Newer sets now. Both the Grandstream Dect and WIFI cordless phones have been superb since day one.

The WP826 is the best WIFI cordless phone, period. Doesn't have lag or delay like others also. (When a phone has been sitting for a while and the first digit dialed is not recognized) The price point is amazing. Best value for a VoIP device we've ever seen. 12hr battery, 240hr standby - come on - WOW. There is a reason they are already sold out at most distributors. There is not a finer WIFI cordless on the market for the price.
