Eotech is complete trash. It's literally the only optic that can expire brand new in the box( delamination) and i guess everyone forgot they were so bad the government sued them, eotech lied 3 times and said they fixed the issue when they didn't do a damn think. Read the court papers if you don't believe me. I wonder how many good American soldiers lost their lives because of this piece of s***

As great as this red dots and Holo sights still useful to have Canted Irons or Fold down irons Incase of failure

FTR battery life is 600

Battery life is a issue to me. You will struggle to fit juice to it in a SHTF scenario. Also extremely cold weather.

Is there a general rule on how far forward or back your optic should be mounted on the rifle or is it all personal preference?

One clarification, the BDC is correct unmagnified too, assuming the correct zero was used. They are just more practical to use with a magnifier.
