What a charming beautiful man. You are very real! :)
ОтветитьAm a musician from India.. am a vocalist, guitarist and a songwriter..I also have originals...what all qualifications do I need to be a cruise ship musician??
Ответитьawesome video Damian! thanks
Ответить@damienkeyes I would love the opportunity to get in touch with the people that could get me auditions! I am an experienced drummer who currently operates in very similar competitive conditions with the bands I play in. I am a drum set player/percussionist, hope to hear from you soon!
ОтветитьBeen doing this for years, not going to lie, it's pretty awesome. If you're young and single, I highly recommend being a cruise ship musician.
ОтветитьDamian I could use your help learning what I need to get one of these wonderful jobs
ОтветитьVery helpful information! I'm an R&B guitarist that can play a variety of styles. But my sight reading skills aren't strong and I was interested in work with a Party Band that plays most current or Top 40 music. What would you suggest? All music that's played on the ships require sheet music?
ОтветитьWhat merch can a cruise ship musician sell to make more money?
ОтветитьWhat do you think is the best cruise line to work for as a solo musician guitar player/singer? Best cabins, food, pay, getting free time..ect?
ОтветитьI played by ear most of my Guitar playing life how much music do you need to be able to read you said knowing a lot of songs and being able to transpose quickly some info would be great thanks awesome video
ОтветитьI’d love to be a singer in a cruise ship. Advice?
ОтветитьSr, I want to join a cover band, where can I search for a gig??
ОтветитьExactly the information I was looking for when I typed cruise musician in google. I'm 17, play piano, guitar, bass, vocals, & I guess you could count flute, but I'd say bass is my main instrument despite playing piano for 10 years. I've played in a couple bands but mostly with friends in not many very formal settings. Would playing as a cruise musician be unrealistic? My music teacher told me about it & said I could be pretty good at it given my ability to pick up songs quickly as well as my sight reading & it sounds like something I'd really like to do but I kinda feel like I lack experience.
ОтветитьHey Damian, I play Drums,Guitar and bass on an advanced level and would love to know Who i can contact to get some work on a cruise ship or some kind of touring Band. thanks for the video.
ОтветитьIf you wanna be a working musician (touring, studio, theatre, TV etc.), regardless of your instrument, the show band gig is a great stepping stone.
Constant sight reading, all kinds of music, guest entertainers, production shows, and you get very comfortable playing to a click.
Also, you'll have to expand your repertoire a lot to get the gig. Bassists need to play electric and upright, sax players have to play other woodwinds too etc.
Would a Scottish Band go down well on a cruise ship ?
ОтветитьDo you know where someone could find that “general set list,” or some similar resource?? Thank you!😁
ОтветитьHook me up with an Agent I have a band we mostly play in hotels we want to try Cruz ships
ОтветитьHey man, I know it’s been 3 years but you said drop a line! Lol I’m a bass player, have been doing the cover band thing for 10 years. My sight reading is garbage, you got that set list?
ОтветитьThank you for this! Hopefully, i will experience this as a solo guitar/ singer soon.
ОтветитьHook me up man😁
ОтветитьIt’s a dream of mine
Ответитьwhat would i do if i wanted to be an actor on a cruise and who should i contact..
ОтветитьHello, loved the video!! very direct and informative. I'm a singer but I don't have a band and have been wanting to get into this business for a while, could you tell me where to find those people that put these bands together please?
ОтветитьThat cool. I am looking for a job and a crew ship as a Calypso band four member let me know and I'll send you a picture or a video pls and thanks (Donovan Gordon)
ОтветитьOh my God, you're playing for drunks like everywhere else. Play the songs the best you can. Who cares?
ОтветитьCan you direct me to band leader, I'm a jazz singer looking for cruise work
ОтветитьLove the video. Really cool. . I have a question. Can you play blues, rock as a Solo Musician on a Cruise Ship? I’m a solo musician who plays with tracks and mostly the Tourists circuit (all the hits, classics etc) but I do one gig a week where I get to play blues & rock etc and it’s my favourite gig of the week (as they are my favourite genres) and I was wondering if that’s possible to do on a cruise ship? I haven’t been on a cruise ship so I don’t know if there would be a demand for that type of gig?
ОтветитьI really like your video and thanks for helping fellow musicians. I play in a a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band "Almost Skynard" . I am having a hard time finding a Booking Agent. We are located in the state of Alabama and have a Carnival Cruise Terminal in Mobile. Is it possible to book directly with the cruise line ? and also let me know if there are any booking agencies you recommend. Thanks
ОтветитьYou lost me at "The band are not allowed to drink".... literally why am I here😂
ОтветитьWould you recommend doing this early in your music freelance career? I'm a saxophonist and I'm debating applying for a cruise.
I'm young so I've not really "settled" in life and I'm not really planning to anytime soon.
I've studied music performance and play lots of function gigs for weddings and agencies and have done for years, so I'm very comfortable with the playing side of things.
I believe theres a wait list
ОтветитьThank you so much for this information! 🙏🎻
ОтветитьI play clarinet at last 16 years, wonder if I can make it?
ОтветитьHi Damian. Can I get an agency contact? I am an upright and electric bassist looking to join a cruise ship. Orchestra position preferred.
ОтветитьCarnt have a margareeter whilst im playing bass? That's a load of bollocks.
ОтветитьExcellent content, I am a bass player on my 20s and looking to start the session musician life, any tips on where to apply?
ОтветитьGood morning sir!!! I'm interesting in working with my band on a Cruise, can l get information about it??? thank you very much, and have a great day!!!
Ответить🎷🎸I’m an available experienced Saxophonist/Guitarist looking for full time reliable musician positions On Cruise Boats….I would love to join a Cruise Ship Band! Does anyone have any recommendations or leads for contacts? 😊❤

ОтветитьHey thanks for the advice, im looking to play as a solo pianist on a cruise any ideas how to apply?
ОтветитьAny openings for drummers or advice how to make this work?
ОтветитьThank you 🙏 for this enlightenment.
I'm a pro guitarist based in Africa with a vast list répertoire.
I'm want to apply as a band and solo performer
the last advice was the best heads up . but do they have ever hire street musicians that can’t play with other but they have a great show? or for music openings before the band like the janitor that is cleaning and plays every instrument when no one is looking or other similar stuff?
ОтветитьHey! Great video. I’m a former bassist for a touring rock band and am looking to get a gig on a cruise ship. Any connections are appreciated. Thanks!
ОтветитьMy goodness how it's all changed since I did this back in the 1970s. Not allowed to drink alcohol? We had a 35% discount at all the bars. Crew musos had a passenger cabin EACH - worth a heck of a lot when you're on there for four months at a time, and you got paid for periods on leave. In 2019 I had a call from a female singer who needed a pianist for a short run; when I asked her about accommodation she said "Oh we share; P and O say 'take it or leave it' ". I said I would leave it thanks. I would not do it now for all the tea in China. We were allowed to mix freely with the passengers; no having to be below decks after you'd finished. The passengers enjoyed being able to chat with those who'd entertained them.
