The solution to the licensing issue is to simply stop requiring art to license their depictions.

I do not need a licence to write a book about an old man who drives a Chevy Silverado, I do not need a license to paint a local restaurant with a Vespa parked outside with expensive, recognizable brands worn by customers sitting outside in the sun drinking wine from expensive, labeled bottles.

At least I hope that hasn't become the case. A mandate of artistic blur when connections and agreements are not arranged. Wonk up the Vespa with new curves and added indentations and detailing? Smudge the logo? Turn the bottles of wine away? Rethink the tailoring and details to make the diners' clothes sufficiently vague? Fuck that. It would be permissible to depict it all as it is.

Movies and video games should be free to use assets as they exist, however modified or not they want their depictions to be.

A depiction of a Ferrari is not a Ferrari, a depiction of an MP5 is not an MP5.

The whole "It could ruin live service games entirely is a stupid argument. Thor talks about games that are live service only (league of legends, world of warcraft, etc). These games are either entirely free or subscription based and NOT paid games. The whole point of this is to stop killing games that were PAID for and it would not affect games that were free or subscription based.
