I am fully pro vaccination. However, I think the conversation about the beginnings of the polio vaccine needs to be discussed. One manufacturer bungled the vaccine and sent out live viruses to children who had worse side effects of being vaccinated than they would have if they caught the virus on their own. And the oral vaccine that f***ed children in much the same way. We have since corrected the mishap and the vaccine is regulated and safe, but it can lead to some insight as to why people are afraid of vaccines.

As someone with high functioning autism (Asperger's) hearing that healthcare system is actively trying to make it harder to access Therapy boils my blood. The only reason I'm able to be a simi function as person was because I had the early "correction" therapy that help teach me the skills to communicate, process info/feeling, and how to deal with stress & overstimulation. And again that from someone that all things considering has the better deal of autism. I can say definitively that if I had not had this therapy my life would be very different. I'd be more shy, less articulate and most importantly isolated, because I wouldn't be able to speak, understand, and process the world around me. The health care system is a joke, and need to be fix.

I worked as a registered behavioral therapist with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and I specialized and worked with with the high SIB (Self-Injurious Behavior) kids due to my EMS background. It is absolutely helpful for the children and the parents, improving the quality of life for both. I have seen the progress some of those kids made and it is absolutely life changing. They come to us with 30+ minutes of tantrums with high sib and we work with them and work and work and work, and we get them to a point where they may still tantrum, but it's shorter, they hurt themselves less, they ask for things before they get to the point of tantrum, they learn coping mechanisms for their frustrations. They DO improve, but it takes time and consistency.

The fact that insurance companies are like, "Ooooh, I want a new yacht next year and we need to fuck someone over to do it..." and then decided. I mean that. They DECIDED. They looked at what costs money and made a conscious decision at multiple levels and everyone agreed. Let's fuck over autistic kids.

My child is in the spectrum my insurance used to be united. They refused my child’s ABA for over a year. I ran into 50k in cc debt trying to keep my child in therapy. Fuck United they went out of their way to limit my child’s resources. To a point where they limited my kids therapy to 60 per year. After 2 years of craziness. We change jobs just to be able to have a better insurance. To a company that would cover therapy.
