Great video! Very inspiring! Notably for me is that I also love Greg Crewdson's work -----so did you think about rousting your wife to have her pose in a zombie like standing pose staring at the sign beside a car with a door open and the headlights on?!! Thanks for sharing your work and process, and progress! - Marty
ОтветитьFor anyone who went looking for the Glide Gear LS-100 french flag (lens shade) only to find that nobody has it in stock, (including Glide Gear), Small Rig has a similar item, the Small Rig 3199 that is a reasonable substitute and can be had on both BH and Amazon for about the same price. I can confirm that it works well on the Shen-Hao TFC617-A 6x17 though the build quality could be a little better.
ОтветитьNice explanation of ambient / artificial light levels! Enjoyed it!
ОтветитьI wanted to do a video about these new stupid led lights for some time, it makes everything look like Minecraft in our village. All shadows look rasterised. Roundup is banned here for some time. They still sell it with the same name, but it's a totally different product. Great video and explanation of your light metering. Enjoyed the whole story, thx for sharing.
ОтветитьThis is one of the best educational videos I have ever seen. So informative, and you really carried the weight of each point through your experiences having been in all these different scenarios. Thanks a lot for making this.
ОтветитьSuper. Perfect. Such effort to get just one beautiful photo. And thanks should go to your wife for driving, so that you were free to spot such a terrific social portrait opportunity that you captured and now explained so well. Love it.
ОтветитьNice vid. Yes, no human urban landscape.
Ответитьtoo bright LEDs are also bad in terms of light pollution, which you ideally wanna limit in cities. Some places around where I live in europe where they changed street lights to LEDs actually got a bit darker (while still being well lit) just from my subjective perception, which is nice
ОтветитьAlso idk if it is but that eye syphillis billboard looks AI generated as well? It has that creepy look. If it is then that would make the picture even more of a snapshot of current day america
ОтветитьIt symbolises the two ages of man in the modern world. The age when you worry about having an STD and the age where you worry about the weeds in your yard. Not too much overlap I suspect!
ОтветитьYes Nick, I hate the overly bright LEDs on cars, Ford trucks and Jeeps. Also now on city streets and rual yards and garages. Part of the problem is that it's the bare bulb and no cover or hood to put the light on the ground and not in your eyes. Love your work and meaningful rants.😊
ОтветитьWe got eye syphilis before GTA 6.. very dystopian.
Ответитьthis was again, incredibly good. thank you!
ОтветитьFuck leds my bro
ОтветитьLove your videos dude, need more on locations now
ОтветитьNick stop stealing ALL my ideas.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the inspiration.
Streetscapes! Great episode, Nick
ОтветитьGreat great great video man, keep it up❤
Ответитьdont have 45 min to dissect a photo now...
Ответитьomg 🙄
ОтветитьGues where I live we are not to bright either. Infact in my town Vejle, Denmark. We use reflective light in the midtown pedestrian street to dim the light. Its quite cozy. The reflectors looks like flying birds.
ОтветитьMate, I was talking to you saying 15 to 20 minutes before or after mate and then you called my numbers and bingo! Haha, as a seasoned real estate photographer I've learned to start setting up at 5 minutes before sunset to start taking test shots for my final exposure
ОтветитьMore please!
ОтветитьThis is so useful! Oh my god
ОтветитьIts beautifullllllll
ОтветитьLED lights on cars are way too bright
ОтветитьI would say this is really “Urban Landscape” photography.
Ответитьthank you for this amazing video! It's lovely to hear how you approach your passion!
ОтветитьI can't foe the life of me remember what book you recommended on color theory. Anyone els remember?
ОтветитьNever heard of eye syphilis, doesn't sound good. Syphilis and cancer all in one in intersection. Love your work. Do you print your own work? If so, what kind of printer do you use?
ОтветитьHey Nick this is such a fantastic video, thank you! For scanning, how do you go about it?
ОтветитьGreat video, Nick - 45 minutes and not a single dull moment! Could you explain why you use an ND filter and Portra 400, shooting it at ISO 160?
Ответитьi don’t normally leave likes, but this ended up being one of my favorite videos ever
ОтветитьBro said, "I do NOT want to see this picture!" And put two monitors in front of it 😂
ОтветитьNick
I love the image and your explanation of the motivations behind it as well as your romantic banter throughout. Keep on truckin' dude.
Love this photo and your passion for your photography. And the irony of the billboards is sadly hilarious.
ОтветитьI’m a big fan of Crewdson also. I love your photography the same way I do Crewdon’s. The difference between you two, is that all of his work is contrived. He’s a genius, no doubt about it, but you’re making art on the same level as he is without a production crew and someone else to pull the trigger. I’m a real estate photographer and I do my own editing, so not much time to shoot what I want. Your videos always keep me inspired!
ОтветитьI have enjoyed your "rants" and photo conversations. ... and looking forward to your upcoming color management / printing course... even if it means lees content for a while. Thanks again for sharing your great photography and words of wisdom.
ОтветитьConcerning LED lights: hang in there, brother! Environmentalists are going to be our best allies here, because light pollution is a real problem for humans, animals and plants, and awareness is on the rise.
Btw I really, really resonate with your thoughts on the photo! Thanks for explaining. I do think it can add a lot to a piece of art if the artist explains his thoughts and intentions behind it (even if some people frown upon that).
Another great video Nick. So informative. And no; you are definately NOT the only one who see’s his city vibe and images getting ruind by the day by all these cheapo LED lights that delete all ambience, mood and warm color
Ответитьong its not just me that thinks the cold bright leds take all the beauty out of the night. they re so harsh. I wonder how no one involved in implementing them remembered they break like every principle for pleasing lighting
ОтветитьCongenital syphilis is up 300% in Colorado! It’s WILD. The comeback is real. Nonetheless, great video :)
ОтветитьF LEDs
ОтветитьJust found your channel! Where have you been?
ОтветитьI can't believe this video is actually free. Love listening to all your overcomplicated explanations man!
ОтветитьThanks Nick, I really enjoy these longer format videos you put out and find it interesting even without the on location filming! We're definitely in some sort of unravelling in the world right now but photography lets me forget about all that!
ОтветитьLove love love these types of videos! So helpful for my own photography
