Ответитьmy backyard has a small field full of plants and mostly dirt and big trees, it's humid (but dry sometimes), you think i have a chance of finding ants there?
ОтветитьYou can find queens under rocks and stuff

ОтветитьWe're fire ants queen national fly in Philippines
ОтветитьPlzz do Pakistan
ОтветитьI really want an exotic ant
ОтветитьI have found boat loads of tetramorium in my swiming pool by leaving a small boggie board with a few 2' pieces of rope tied to it float around. They catch the rope and then climb up to the board to avoid drowning. You can find dozens of them several times a day on the same board. I start looking in early June - July here in Pennsylvania
Ответить@AntsCanada what about the Caribbean..Barbados specifically
ОтветитьIndian gang?
Ответитьthank you so much!! I've been trying to know when queen ant do their nuptial flight and this really helped I just caught Pheidologeton queen ant I've searched but never saw when queen ants have their nuptial flight so seeing this really helped me I've been a fan for about 4 years! already i used to watch on my old phone now on my computer this really helped others and this helped me to thank you.
Ответитьjust a question. i know im asking this real late as 7 years ago is half my age. does australia count as new zealand aswell? as its real annoying to have no nuptial flight times down here so it would be really helpful if someone told me the time if they knew.
ОтветитьMy tip if you have strict parents, is just to hide them, once the colony becomes large enough it will be basically impossible to release them.
ОтветитьI'm in my 3rd year of trying to get an ant colony established, hopefully this is the year. Hard lessons learned, don't move the ants too soon or too often! I think ants Canada recommends waiting for at least 30 ants in the test tube before moving I didn't listen and killed 2 colonies last year moving too soon. Thank you for for all the advice!! Love the videos
ОтветитьI had to resort to trying this method. Since all online ant sellers have been suspicious scammers. I’ve had to get all my refunds through paypal.
ОтветитьSo I have a question, well, before the question, I’m moving to the Philippines on June 27th. I’ll be going to Bohol, which is my mothers island as well. I asked her and she said that she got stung by Solenopsis Geminata and she said it was like a very Harsh pinch. Now the question. So, How big does an ant colony have to be to move it to a bigger place? Depending on the species, too. I never kept a whole colony before so I am just wondering if there are easy ants to take care of in Bohol, and slow growers because it might take a while for me to move them. I’m looking forward to antkeep a colony there might be ghost ants in Bohol, and if you find a ghost ant nuptial flight I bet there should be a queen that has mated. Also yesterday I was looking at some worker ants and some were fire ants. Luckily I had a little cup and I pick them up with a stick. Somehow one of them escaped so I just released the other one.
ОтветитьAlso they should not be solenopsis species or else I’ll have trouble and my grandma will probably get mad 🤣
ОтветитьI want to ant keep too but I’m still trying to find my queen and I’m scared to ask my parents to get a test tube set up. And the bigger containers are too expensive. If you can, can you do a cheap container for slow growing ant colonies? Also can they come with the little soil things so I don’t have to clean up ant leftovers? Yeah I think it’s a bit gross.
Ответитьwith tetremoriom sp.e do they sting its my first time and im looking for some easy to keep ants
ОтветитьHi ants Canada!I’ve been a ant keeper for over 2 years and I’ve not had one successful ant colony but I’ve had over 20 queens and I put them in the test tube and heat them up a tad bit and then leave them in a dark spot where I won’t check but idk any tips?
ОтветитьHow can I know if my queen ant is mated
Ответить@AntsCanada you forgot Cambodian Laos and Vietnam
ОтветитьNice work! Do you have any info about South Americe? Just started my first colony after watching many of your videos! Its a Camponotus Rosariensis
ОтветитьI kept black crazy ants 😊

ОтветитьI am wondering if there is a source where I can find the nuptial flights for ant species in South Africa
Ответитьi know this is an old video but i recently found what appeared to be a winged ant (pretty sure it was an ant because it had elbowed antennae, not sure of the gender) in my backyard. it's january. are there ants that do this???
Ответитьyou didn't mention myrmecia in your australia section. i'm disappointed
ОтветитьI'm looking for queen Big Headed ants and Fire ants South Africa 🇿🇦
ОтветитьI live In eastern texas and I have seen (and caught) many solenopsis ant queens already (February 24th)
ОтветитьHey AntsCanada, I got a weaver ant queen but she escaped, I was waiting for a another weaver ant queen to come, but they didnt came.
ОтветитьThank u u inspire me so much
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьWhen I was in Florida I found a fire and queen in November I didn’t catch her because I didn’t have any containers with me
ОтветитьCan anyone tell me when are nuptial flight in philipines
ОтветитьWhat about South America?
ОтветитьHow ever nature does like to make exceptions.
There are rare cases where the queen ants reverse the process by laying unfertilized eggs that will become workers while the fertilized eggs become alates (eather male or female, queens).
The clever example is ant species that live in very harsh environments where there is not enough food to support her workers,
So some queen ants can even drag their departed mate into the nest as an emergency food supply.
And instead of using the sperm she collected to make workers, she lays unfertilized eggs that will become workers, while the sperm gets used to make alates(mainly both types, queens and alates).
This bizarre strategy is very beneficial so that the queen ant can live up to 30 years in the harsh desert environment.
The male cannibalism is more common,(similar to mantises) and Dracula ants will use this strategy to feed her offspring and then feed herself(by feeding on the larvae blood)to ensure that she will survive and not waste any food.
The male cannibalism is also involved in destructive invasive ant species too, mainly argentines or black crazy ants.
Me who watch everyone having their ant while me can't even find one single queen
(I'm wanting to have an ant colony since then but can't even have one😞)
And no Africa, as usual but great video.
ОтветитьI have selenopsis geminta
