Can you name one tangible accomplishment pertaining to the reduction in either atmospheric CO2 or global temperature in response to the Paris Climate Agreement? Promises are nice, but has any actual progress been made?

Thanks for the video and insights. Would be interesting to do a similar format but with a pro-Trump/project 2025 person to have a more conflicting discussion!

Break the climate? Nah, it's already broken. All he can do is jump up and down on the pieces and make them harder to clean up--which he is, I think, inclined to do.

After these Trump appointments, we Europeans no longer have any doubt that Trump, alias “Orange Yanukovich”, and his new cabinet of horrors are nothing more than Putin’s puppets in the White House and are there to favour the interests of the oligarchies that control Russia and China and not the interests of the United States and Americans. The United States is on the way to the worst economic and political isolationism and will fall into the worst plutocratic autarky ever seen in its history. The United States is a mortally wounded democracy as was Germany in the 1930s with Hitler.

I would rather have lived at the end of the Roman empire than at the end of the U.S. empire. I imagine the results of this will wipe out most of humanity by 2050, but this would have happened regardless of who won the imperial figurehead position.

If I'm not mistaken those reductions were a result of the Obama administration. Just as with the departure from the Paris Climate Accord the effects of Trumps rollbacks did not have time to take effect before the Biden administration took office.

I can't believe Donald Trump is so completely idiotic that he doesn't believe in Global Warming. I heard the prediction is he is not going to live past 2025 [ie: April, 2025], but then somebody even worse (the vice-president) could take his place. Again the new energy sources are being suppressed because of what the leader of my new energy group said --- the fear of greater weapons of mass destruction. Also it is very difficult to STOMP down the ignorance.

Have both of you taken a vow never to fly or vacation abroad again? If not, hold your tongues.
If you look at what people actually do, no-one cares about climate damage. Least of all the sanctimonious elites who lecture us about it. COP29 is yet another highly polluting holiday in an exotic location for thousands of smug hypocrites. When the political and academic class swears to forgo air travel, the rest of us might start listening.

Trumps 1st term ensured 1.5C. 2nd ensures 2.0C. Without any upper limits.

We are at the worst case, rcp8.5, emission line and temperature is even above that.

29 COPs failed. And they are not talking about phasing out fossil burning which is the main cause of climate change.

China's carbon emissions are 4 times what the US produces and make up 35% of earths carbon emissions... and they are climbing. The US emissions have been dropping for 20 years and are basically where they were in the 70's. Trumps second term isn't going to break the climte. China and india combined might though. In fact of the top 5 emitters 4 are part of the new BRICS movement. Russia, china, india and brazil.

I was thinking of some changes that could be fairly easily done that are not strictly fuel related. What if for example meals that are sold or served anywhere like in restaurants and cafeterias; had to be made up by at least 60% (for example) of calories coming from plants. That would greatly lessen emissions. It wouldn’t force a diet onto anyone as it would only be x% plants. Or if cardboard was banned from online sales. Instead there could be re-usable boxes made from recycled plastics, properly padded, that you send back after use and thereby get a deposit back for the box. Woodland would be saved due to less felling, and the carbon sink (woodland ) would not shrink as much. Just some ideas.

Trump is going to be stopping the climate from changing. Like Biden did and all previous Presidential occupiers have done. Back in the 70's Jimmy saved the climate, the Ronald saved the roof of the white House. Fossil fuels will survive another 4 years. My hot rod is safe for another 4 more.

American voters didn't care much about climate change for various reasons. Democrats are notorious for not putting information out there about anything. They seem to expect voters to just notice what they are doing.

As I've told other paleoclimate deniers, when the snow no longer melts off during the summer in the higher latitudes, THEN we'll have some serious problems. Until then, just relax and enjoy the warmer weather.

one little nitpick : you expect trump to learn from the mistakes he made last time ? forget it . that's one of the core red flags with low functioning narcissism ; they're unable to acknowledge their mistakes , and thus unable to learn anything ... at all .

Since I'm in Canada I didn't get to choose who to vote for. The two choices are like a double edged sword. On one hand Biden was funding a war with Russia instead of spending the money at home. As for Trump he's going to stop that and close the American Border with Mexico and expel the 13,000,000 illegal immigrants or try to. In either case Climate Change is rapidly approaching dangerous levels and I fear that My young Grandchildren won't get to enjoy our planet's bounty as long as my generation has. I guess they will find out, but I might not live as long to find out myself. Heaven help them.
