I love Switzerland, I've been to Zermatt 4 times & every time I will remember forever. after a gruelling day getting there (8+ hr plane, 4 hr bus, 2 hr train all while schlepping skis and equipment) u are greeted by a Bavarian style uumpah band dressed in elaborate big furry costumes, a sleigh ride with horses, beautiful rustic looking yet modern ski chalets. it is a winter wonderland with a blanket of snow covering everything, majestic mountains & the Matterhorn right out our balcony.. loved the fondue & that cheese plate with potatoes & a pickle 😁 amazingly beautiful little town with crisp refreshing air & the bluest skies! 1 sad truth is that the Matterhorn is rapidly shrinking due to global warming I noticed from the 1st time I was there in 1998 to last in 2012... so do your part & ♻️ and leave a small 👣 ✌️❤️🙏

Showing my age here and sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but . . . THAT was not the Zermatt that I once knew. I was there in 1969 and there were NONE of these modern clubs and swanky buildings and all that ear splitting music and chaos. It was still the old original Zermatt. Quiet and very charming. I'm so disappointed to see it turn into a tourist spot with all the hedonistic stuff going on. A total different complexion today than it was 50+ years ago. Just donkey carts and people walking quietly everywhere they went.

Zermatt is nice although you’re kinda getting scammed out of a lot of things. For Fondue and everything that doesn’t involve the Matterhorn i would just suggest going somewhere like Verbier 4 Vallées

Zermatt is Five Star, but the Hexenbar actually is operated by a witches coven that puts a curse on its customers... as if the Marionettes were not creepy enough on there own.
