How to catch big pike and perch with Matt Hayes!

my biggest bike is 8 kg From finland im 13 yr old

i spent 6 hours today trying to catch my first pike... 4 in the morning 2 at night sundown. threw everything in my tackle box... my favorite fire tiger spinners... nothing. I see a big pike smack the top 20 ft away. still cant catch fuck all... that elusive first pike.

Almost had my 1st pike didn't have a net and lost him. He was only like 2-3 lbs tho seen him smack my fire tiger crank bait.

In my experience in warm water conditions fish look for oxygen. Oxygen is found in shallow water near the suface not in the depths. Water temperature is irrelevant when life giving oxygen is needed. And when oxygen is in short supply in really hot weather fish are often seen surfacing and sometimes dying so I don't agree.

Those pike were wild brutes! Is figure-8 technique used for pike like we use for Musky here in North America?

we have pike like that where i live... but that perch was as big as a walleye (Europeans call them zander i think)... happy fishing from Minneapolis, Minnesota USA

My tip big pike like big lures also if you like fishing in the winter time try fishing with dead bait in or near a haven roaches and bream usualy go there to sit out the winter the pike will follow they are a bit slow because of the cold water thats why dead bait has my personal prefference .

I believe the "warm water no bites" is just a myth. I have a cabin near a big freshwater lake in Norway, and last summer it was record temperatures in and above water. I thought we'd struggle getting anything but it was the complete opposite. Both trout and perch bit like never before!

Amazingly each time when speed boat passes by making a hughe wave 🌊 i had best bites.

It's interesting how perch in Europe and the UK seem to be bigger than the ones we catch here in Canada. We have big pike though.
