Are there people here who have finished a BA/BSc Open Degree with the Open University. Kindly comment on this Open degree. Is it worth it?
ОтветитьI'm wanting to study with The Open University and I have been told by my birch of teacher the OU degree aren't real it pissed me of but thankyou
ОтветитьI’m doing one now
Ответитьi love this guy man
ОтветитьThanks much so Its easy to find a steady good job everywhere with this uni right? Nd for being economically helped by the university what must we do?
ОтветитьEngland must be more expensive than Wales because the OU degree I'm looking at (Philosophy and Psychology) costs under £8,000 total here. I had to check multiple times as the price seemed so low!
ОтветитьLife is not real, it is complex
ОтветитьHell yeah I want a free fish poster 😋 🐟
ОтветитьI was quite disappointed not to see a fish poster in the background.
ОтветитьWow. That’s crazy. I’ve been looking into PPE degrees too. And it’s how I found open XD.
ОтветитьIt's pretty disappointing to see students mainly focusing on getting their degree. I mean, I get it's a way to prove yourself, but shouldn't going to school be more about soaking up knowledge and experiences? The whole 'real' argument shouldn't even come into play when the coursework demands a deep understanding of the subject.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU SO MUCH. Im neurodivergent (ik omg im soOO special) and normal classes just don't work for me. I need to be more independent and relay on my passion driven motivation and im seriously considering this uni (the open college of the arts tho but I didn't find any videos about it so this is the closest I can get) Thank you!
ОтветитьI was struggling for motivation and prepared to give up. However, somehow, this video has brought me back to earth. Thank you.
ОтветитьI'm studying an Economic and Personal finance degree at the OU, and I love it, second year right now.
ОтветитьI have worked all my life, having come from a family that never earned enough to send me to uni, but just enough to not get help with it, I fell into the bracket of never being able to risk my future going.
I'm now 39. And an engineer. But I have become an engineer through vocational qualifications and not academic ones.
The only way for me to progress further in my line of work is a degree.
And the only option for me, with a house and a wife and child to look after, was the OU.
So I begin my OU degree in April. And hopefully I can get my employer to sponsor me .
I'm planning to apply in 2 months. Thanks for video.
ОтветитьIs there any proctored exam in open university or it’s totally self study
ОтветитьI have a mate who did an OU degree in mathematics and then went onto doing an MSc in quantum mechanics at Imperial College - so yep its a real degree, real university
ОтветитьOU is 100% fit for introverts who like to educate themselves and actually enjoy.
ОтветитьDon't like the horrible presentation.
ОтветитьI’ve a question. I'm from Brazil, now I'm a Software Engineering student at a Brazilian university, but I really like the Computing and IT course at OU and I'm going to leave my current course. Is the UO a university considered good and well regarded in Europe/UK?
ОтветитьI just enrolled on the Engineering degree course. My first degree and I'm 43. So excited! But also terrified of the maths element. But as a mum of 3 and working full time in endless admin roles I finally got a chance at sponsorship. So I'll work my butt off to do this and most of all I want to enjoy it.
ОтветитьI do not understand correctly the assessment. Don't you have to take the exams in person? I am personally thinking about doing an online degree there but I live in another European country. Can someone explain it to me? Thank you.
ОтветитьYou learn the same material to the same depth as you would do in a more conventional university. In the latter, you may have only two/ three lectures a week in which you learn nothing. It all comes down to reading, reading and more reading.
Ответитьcan you get accepted in an american uni for a masters degree after you get your bachelors in statistics at open university? I wanna get a cs masters afterwards and i don't know if grad schools in america approve this dergee
ОтветитьFor 20k debt to learn what you can yourself is mad
ОтветитьGreat vid, really informative, but for the love of god - switch to decaff.
ОтветитьYou talk way too fast and I have to reduce speed to 0.75 to watch you. Slow down!!! Thanks for the insight tho
ОтветитьDoes the Open University, UK provide a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), if u wish to stay in the UK while studying?
ОтветитьCool I just signed up for the law degree 🎉
Ответитьthis video was very helpful
ОтветитьJust enrolled into the OU Law program at 40. Can’t wait to start in the fall.
ОтветитьThanks a lot it was very interesting
ОтветитьDon't study with the OU if you're male and white, it's been weaponized.
ОтветитьWill exams be held remotely? Because I am from outside Britain I am from Libya
ОтветитьWill exams be held remotely? Because I am from outside Britain I am from Libya
ОтветитьWhat's stopping someone from just using chatgpt to answer the questions?
ОтветитьDo you think it is possible to work full-time and study full-time? Thanks!
ОтветитьI want to enroll this year, how plz I just hope and pray it real
ОтветитьThanks!! Great!! I ask u kindly; we can take all the exams at home? So only when we graduate we must be at the university?
ОтветитьLast year of Open Uni, I completed my NVQ level 3 through work and wanted to carry on Education and the OU was the perfect option. Six years later and a three year old daughter and I am now 100% convinced that anyone that achieves an OU degree is the type of person you want on your staff team, they can lone work and multitask under pressure.
ОтветитьYou can complete in six years.. But you have deadline for assignements ?
ОтветитьI’m contemplating doing a honours in software engineering/ development but with work and other commitments like a kid at my old old age of 21 I’d have to do part time. It’s daunting to me as it says it’ll take 6 years (which would make me 27) and having a job that then pays well seems like a million miles away. What do people think I should do? Taking everyone’s comments seriously. Thanks all
ОтветитьAnd was it a total waste of time? Have you got a job?
ОтветитьConsidering a lot of the OUs material is used by bricks & mortar universities, I would say it’s real.
ОтветитьLaw degree of law is helpful for females asked for divorce and not having money to appoint expencive lawyers to fight and punish in laws for cheating females in the name of marriages brought down in earth from heaven and slap them that why did you get married and give me your sick culture
ОтветитьCan international students apply to the Open University? Can you post a video about it? And what are the requirements?
ОтветитьI wanted to share my frustrating experience with the Open University regarding one of my recent modules. Due to the lecturers’ marking strike, my result was delayed for what felt like ages. When it finally arrived, it looked like they’d simply fabricated a mark out of thin air. There was no meaningful feedback—just seven sectioned scores with no explanation as to how they were awarded. This was also the first time I was penalized for ‘poor writing style’ when every other paper I’d submitted had no issues in that department.
Naturally, I tried to contest this. I reached out to the university, but nobody was willing to take another look at my paper. Even the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA) wouldn’t review the content or identify who supposedly marked it. This is especially concerning since it points to a system that lacks transparency and accountability.
On top of that, the OU’s computing curriculum seems hopelessly outdated. They rely on textbooks riddled with errors—textbooks they must have bought cheaply before corrections were made. Instead of properly updating course materials, they just post pages of errata that go on for years.
I’m now looking for independent computing lecturers who can re-mark my paper. My plan is to take this to the press if necessary because, as it stands, the system isn’t fit for purpose. Markers can dash off any numbers they like if they’re short on time, and there’s no mechanism to catch it. Worse still, any appeal is an uphill battle since proving something like a “fabricated mark” feels almost impossible without their cooperation.
If you’re considering the Open University—or any institution, for that matter—be aware of how they handle appeals and how transparent (or not) their marking process is. In my view, this experience shows there’s a real need for greater oversight and accountability in distance learning institutions.
It’s expensive tho 😢
ОтветитьThanks!!! May I ask you kindly plesse for a foreigner must we take the exams in UK or can we take all the exams in out country online?
