and the material... Xperia Z uses a glass material for the back while ZL uses cheaper plastic material. Plus the ZL have slightly larger battery and thicker compared to Z while Z is a bit bigger

no it's not because of the z is water proof it lacks of a lot of other feature such as the infrared feature and the call quality is very bad compare to the ZL and also the speaker is in a very bad place. Sony got rid of the stylish look for the ZL but brought back all the really useful features. IMO water proof is pretty useless for me, I have never in my life dropped my phone in water or got it wet plus I don't think the ZL is that much worse on the way it look either, the red one is sick.
