One of a kind entertainer! Got a warm feeling after watching him. Thanks for the laughs, the up lifts when blue, and helping entertain generations!!! RIP job well done, life well lived. Condolences to all those he loved and cherished.

Gosh I remember this and all the guest hosts Letterman had. I wish instead of reruns today they would bring back the guest host.

This was the day after another TV icon, Fred "Mister" Rogers died.

So, we know Dave had come down with a case of shingles, but why wasn't Paul there? Did he have one of those "I don't work with guest hosts" deals in his contract like Ed McMahon had with Carson?

Charles Grodin is a classic late night guest.

As I was cleaning up the floor from my volunteer shift yesterday, I happened to look down by the soda machine, and I saw a few pennies, guess what song and the singer I thought of.

Didn't think I was gonna like it when I realize no Dave, but Regis and the whole show was really good!

An absolute disaster for any singer is when the audience claps along, either ahead or behind the beat.

If there was ever a show that needed a hard hitting loud comic to save it from being the worst episode of 2003, this was it.

P.S. Regis Philbin filled in for David Letterman in 2003, as the guest host of the "Late Show with David Letterman". At that time, Felicia Collins and Paul Shaffer awaited Dave's recovery while the rest of Paul Shaffer's Late Show Band and a guest keyboard player continued to deliver music with the guest hosts, their guests and performers.
