Excellent video and information.
ОтветитьI agree with starting from the top and working down. It looks better if you don't have to scrimp on the pieces to get them to fit at the top. I don't know about you, but I look up when looking at a wall to ceiling fireplace face. The eyes just want to go there, know what I mean?
Ответитьif you were putting up stone veneer on a fireplace that already has dry wall up would you take the dry wall down and put up sheathing panels? or would you put up sheathing panels over the drywall?
ОтветитьGreat job man! anychance you have the brand of that firebox you are using?
ОтветитьWhat is that Mantel?
ОтветитьI have the exact same fireplace in our house. However I’m having a problem with the fireplace pulling away from the exterior 6” wall. The contractor that built ours used nails instead of lag bolts or screws to tie into the exterior wall. What type of fasteners did you use when you attached the fireplace framing to the wall??
ОтветитьI could not find the type of TV bracket you used.
ОтветитьWhere did you get those stones?
ОтветитьPhony stone…
ОтветитьThe mason work would still be the same as for a real fireplace, right?
ОтветитьFor a beginner this step by step with links for materials is great!! Thank you for doing these videos. Very helpful!!
ОтветитьBro. run a strip of blue tape first around the fireplace and then tape your brown paper to that tape. You've got way too many openings openings. You don't show the finished project?
ОтветитьAmazing video! You really went through all the little details and provided super helpful tips. I feel way more confident now thank you!
ОтветитьIf you used hardy boards you would not need felt paper, but plywood is definitely cheaper and easier to work with, nice work man.
ОтветитьWhere did you get your stone? And what brand color scheme is it?
ОтветитьHi there, where did you get the mantel brackets?
ОтветитьYou REALLY explain things well!! Any reason why you did sheathing and scratch coat on top instead of concrete backer board? Couldn't you use mortar under the hearth stones...much cheaper than Liquid Nails ( though perfect for the mantle). We are going to do our FP Surround similar to yours, but in Glacier Stone ( real stone veneer out of a Montana quarry). Putting in a zero tolerance , Fireplace Xtrodinaire Apex 42 into FP box ( all wood like yours installed according to specs). Thanks for the excellent video!
ОтветитьThe lath should feel rough going down not up, otherwise the mortar will fall out
Ответитьhow long did you wait to install stone after scratch coating? Can you do day after you scratch coat
ОтветитьHow wide did you frame the hearth?
ОтветитьCement board is a better way, faster and cheaper and less mess even holds better,
ОтветитьWhy not placing durock instead of osb?
ОтветитьWhere do you get the sand from
ОтветитьGreat job! And thanks for the teaching!
ОтветитьHow much would you charge for something like that, just labor not material
ОтветитьGreat job. Kind regards from Ireland.
ОтветитьOk… you’re officially my goto channel for my DIY projects.
ОтветитьThank you for taking the time doing this video. Excellent job.
ОтветитьUsing polimer in the mortar makes it stick better
ОтветитьGreat video, super helpful! Is it necessary to do the wall before the hearth?
ОтветитьAnother tip/option, stick some polystyrene insulation board horizontally in wall above the fireplace to prevent heat from damaging the tv over time. Good work and great content!
Ответитьi live in Syracuse NY and am looking for a place to purchase the individual veneer stone. Is there a place that you can recommend that i could purchase something that is shipped to me?
ОтветитьMarble fireplace mantel would be a high end style for the fireplace
ОтветитьAwesome i watched this video like 10 times lol😅 👇
ОтветитьLooks fantastic!!
ОтветитьWhy such large space on the top between the framing header and the black firebox trim?
ОтветитьHave you tried "Sicky Stone" adhesive as opposed to the mortar?
ОтветитьHey i was told that the lathe was supposed to be rough downward so gravity pushes stucco into the wall
ОтветитьIs it ok to do this same process on drywall instead of plywood ?
ОтветитьOn most videos, you can pick apart a bunch of things people do badly. But you guys did great. Seem like really good people too. One small change I would’ve done was make that hearth stone a little tighter underneath the cap. Nice work either way.
ОтветитьGREAT WORK BROTHER!
ОтветитьHey Josh nice work. Can you tell us where you got the tv bracket?
ОтветитьAbout how much would this cost to have someone do this? I am in NC I know prices will vary, I was just wanting a ballpark price range. Thanks
ОтветитьI'm in the process of adding a fireplace to the den area of my home. Is your fireplace ventless or vented. I'm looking to run propane in mine.
ОтветитьNice video. Question- when doing this type of stone, does the floor have to be reinforced or does it require footers.
