My dad was a pro fisherman in the gulf of Carpentaria back in the 60's, he tried sea turtle with some local aboriginals, he reckoned it was the best thing he ever ate.

That’s not how you eat Vegemite at all. It’s best eaten on toast with lots of butter and a light spreading of Vegemite.

Possum? Now I’ve never heard of anyone eating that!
I’m 9th generation immigrant, with indigenous DNA too.
Never heard of eating possum😳 I feed them apples and pears!… and when they start living in my roof and leaving pee stains on my ceiling, I hire a trapper who re homes them.
Have a got it wrong? Should I do possum roast instead? 😂😳😫

Marmite and Vegemite (if you ask me) are best on hot buttered toast. Marmite has lots of MSG but as it occurs naturally, not added, the ingredients do not have to say. Wonder if Vegemite contains it?

I had Vegemite once in high school. One of the teachers/priest was from Australia and he brought some to class for us to try out...and it was the most horrible thing I ever tasted. It was even worse than Poi.

Re: Vegemite.
- get some decent bread like sourdough
- slather on the butter which will counterbalance the extreme saltiness
- be conservative with the Vegemite

Yummmmmmmmmm
Also goes well with cheese.

I hope those that are not from Australia 🇦🇺 and watch Sonny travel to Australia don’t think that our diet is kangaroos, emu’s and possums! Yes, we do sell kangaroo meat in some supermarkets and some restaurants have it on their menu, but it’s rare. We don’t live with kangaroos hoping in our backyards, but maybe lots of possums in our trees. We certainly don’t go out to hunt for turtles nor eat them either. It’s hard to say really what Is Australian food as we are a multinational and multicultural country. But, you can bet a snag (sausages) and prawns 🦐 on the bbq is something very common to most Aussies. G’day mate!

'Aboriginal food' is Lehman's for our govt doesn't want to step over boundaries to help our native population to integrate. Previously endangered or even thought to be extinct animals can only be harvested by indigenous. Learn to eat more nourishing food and keep our extremely finite and unique wildlife alive
