Great video Jeff, I was very impressed with one I tested, I think it's a great system for those that can't hold an angle or sharpen, think family members lol. The one I have also has aluminum oxide stones and a Ceramic with the diamond. Thanks for the video 👊
Ответитьinteresting gadget. thanks for posting.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this one Jef:)
ОтветитьSeems mostly for kitchen knives. What do you think?
👍Cheers
This is such a cool concept. Not rly my preferred method, but I love how simplistic this approach is. As long as you have a flat surface, you can get a sharp knife. I could see this being a great option for a lot of people. Always a good day when you release a video, all the best. :)
ОтветитьPretty interesting invention. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьI seen this and by design I knew it had to work decently but I'm shocked.
ОтветитьIt seems like a pretty nifty system. And fairly fool-proof. It's the kind of thing that, when you see it, it makes you wonder why it hadn't been thought of sooner. But i guess a lot of good ideas are like that
ОтветитьSimplicity wins over both learned skill and technology! Super little device. It would be even better if the angle was adjustable on magnet side.
ОтветитьWe have a company called Horl that sells this exact thing here in germany. They offer a variant that has different grits. It's SUPER expensive though, like almost 200€, I could buy a basic KME for that money.
ОтветитьLooks like a decen product. i think horl is the original? And others have copied them? I might be wrong though.
Also i se problem with tall knives the roller wont up to the edge so you need to build a base under neath it
Also slim knives like pairing or pettys also maybe isnt the easiest?
But normal knives looks okay.
Jef good video. Seems to be a decent product. Thanks for sharing brother 👊
ОтветитьI think this is a better device for rather than weak angle holders and "can't get rights". I can sharpen with whetstones, WMD thing, Spyderco sticks, and can strop. It would be nice to pull them out of your desk, have a perfect degree, roll up the horl, in a perfect line, and be done in a minute or two. I'm trying to see how this works with pocket knives.
ОтветитьJeff I use the jumbo sharpies and cut a wedge in the felt tip so I get the edge. that edge up looks like a trip to the er waiting to happen.
Ответитьp̲r̲o̲m̲o̲s̲m̲ 😄
ОтветитьThat 80 grit stone was painful to watch hahah 🔪 🪨
ОтветитьWhat's it like with a filleting knife with a fixable thin blade. For fishing?
ОтветитьGood Video, the points if improvement you suggest are captured in the Horl 2 which is the original design of this sharpener. You can buy finer grit stones for it 3000 and 6000. It's fairly expensive with the additional grit stones but really high quality and very well made.
ОтветитьHow about regular Benchmade knives
ОтветитьLol this is Horl sharpening system but worse.
ОтветитьGrit is 2000, I confirmed with company. Mine is coming this week and want to see how it works as well.
ОтветитьThe life of the diamond is the life of the investment. Replacements would make it all worthwhile.
ОтветитьDoes it work for smaller pocket knifes like Microtechs ?
ОтветитьDoes the magnet leave marks on the blade?
ОтветитьJef. Thorough video...helpful for me and guessing for many. THANKS.
ОтветитьThis sharpener seems to be identical to the Horl sharpener except for minor variations in the finish. It seem like it has been forced off the market, perhaps by threat of a lawsuit by Horl . An interesting theory is that it was a marketing play by Horl to create more interest for their product. If that was their plan, it seems to be working.
ОтветитьThis is a knock off stolen from the creator in Germany.
ОтветитьI have a suggestion for you. On the tips put the magnet block closer to the chip to hold it secure while you sharpen remember the tip is flexing more but the closer to the handles actually stiffer so it's going to flex less anyways
ОтветитьThey stole the design from HORL, this is a knock off or the original.
ОтветитьNot gonna run leather on a roller .. she be all cut up
ОтветитьTormek is the best
ОтветитьI have a Work Sharp that I love, but I’m very tempted to get one of these for sharpening kitchen knifes quickly. I think I may pull the trigger tonight and order one!
Also, I keep seeing these posts about the Horl. I’m not sure what supposedly makes that a better sharpener, but at that price point, I just can’t afford it. The Tumbler is much more affordable.
Looks like a HORL 2 knockoff. also not shipping out for a month. guess they're waiting on that container from china
Ответитьthat block needs to be twice the width
ОтветитьOverpriced
Ответитьfor a relatively cheap and very easy to use knife sharpener I think this sharpener is great. especially for those that don't have a great idea of angles or patience to learn learn a whetstone method. I have also found the pull through sharpeners to just feel janky.
Is the tumbler perfect. hell no. but, does it do a good job yes.
personally, I found 5 minutes a side does a solid job of getting the knife nice and sharp correction. nice and Sharp
As a lot of people have mentioned, this is a knock off of the Horl, which is now in its second iteration, Horl 2. The Horl 2 is currently US $189 and comes with a 400 grit diamond disc and a 1000 grit ceramic disc. Horl has a 3000 grit and 6000 grit discs that are an additional $55 each, or you can buy a set that contains the 3000, 6000 and a leather strop for $139. The Tumbler is $129, but is currently on sale for $98 (as of the date this was written 7/20/2023). would love to see a comparison of the Horl 2 with the 400 and 1000 grit disc compared to the Tumbler.
