Question - Why would any species want to convert or consume every resource in the Universe?
Fraser - They won't, but some of them will! And mention Borg from Star Trek that can travel 5 000 000 000 faster than the speed of light.
I have a better analogy, imagine you plant an apple tree to get some apples, but this tree need to grow 10 000 years, and even if it will grow, your future generations need another 10 000 years to even get information about successful apple growing, why the hell you will plant that tree?
Why couldn’t there be an even a bigger star?
ОтветитьHumans are the Grabby aliens, humans greed will be their downfall..
ОтветитьVulcan to win. Really enjoyed this episode & Q&A. I get ur disclaimer with physicists in a tissy-fit over the new JWST discoveries made daily blowing their theories & models apart that it was supposed to confirm and support.
If our models were correct, & the universe is about 13.8 billion years old (or much more), I find it difficult to hold onto a ‘grabby alien’ theory ever being a threat, even if they could obtain light speed or FTL speeds, it would need to be very high to be any realistic threat considering the incredibly vast distances & time it would take to travel these expanses of our viewable & unviewable universe, I have to still believe the biggest threat to humanity is, lets face it, is humanity itself!
Plagues, wars, and our unceasing effort to try and destroy our atmosphere or an ELE from an unnoticed chunk of outer space debris & a ‘Deep Impact’ scenario.
Hang on to ur goals & dreams mate if thats what makes you happy, I am in a similar processes of rejuvenating a couple of acreage properties myself now days. TFS. Cheers
I am certain Aliens travel at many times the speed of light by manipulating gravity and spacetime. I chuckle when I hear hear scientists with their 400’years of technology and science telling us what aliens with millions of years of science and technology can and can not do. At some point your education needs to inform you on how little you know and that you dont know what you dont know. There are 1000 stars within 50 light years of Earth and 46 of these are like our Sun and as old as our Sun. Our ability to detect aliens in these Stars is close to Zero.
When I hear Scientists talk about aliens and specially alien psychology I hit fast forward.
If the Earth is being visited by aliens, start looking in our Galactic neighborhood..
Eager Space is one of my favorite channels! It has the perfect mix of seriousness and cheekiness. The biting sarcastic humor often comes with zero warning.
Ответитьi need to find a lense that will bend all light such that at z+1( y=y(z+0) , x = x(z+0)-(1)) . this should result in taking all the light that hits the lense that is located at z=0 and adding it to all the light that hit the area z=0{x-1} not hitting the lense and traveling forward to z+1{x-1}. the area z+1{x=0} should be dark. as you can tell, i dont know how to describe this. can you hook me up with some vocabulary to describe a lense that can to this? it is not reflective, it is refractive in nature. know any lense geeks?

Ответить@hi fraser, shouldn't the neutron star be the most massive star (in terms of solar mass) in the universe. My understanding was that neutron stars are the most dense object in the universe, need your thoughts.
ОтветитьI'd definitely watch a channel you did 'on earth' developing a forest area you own before you're too old, I'm 52 and love this channel but am excited to see if you branch out, you have a great presence.
ОтветитьSurvival of diversity of lifeforms may require greater distances between establishments to prevent dominate species from forming narrow tolerance ubiquitous lifeforms vulnerable to extinction
ОтветитьWe need space rockets, aliens just drive their stars about the universe
Ответитьthis answering questions was one of my favorite of your videos. clearly you do a lot of in depth research. Thanks
Ответить"Slow down science so i can digest it"
Just
So much no literally all the no
EXCELLENT content though big respect for keeping an eye on arxiv💪
You have to assume that if there are many alien civilizations that send out self-replicating probes to explore the universe that at least one of them will design it in a way that will not recognize us as anything other than resources to use to make more probes.
ОтветитьIf youre grabby aliens amd you go to another star system to colonize a habitable planet, a planet inhabited by an intelligent race that can only just get off the surface of that planet, and you want them gone. Well you don't land and fight them, you throw big rocks at them and poof like magic they dont exist anymore. You do a little clean up and bam planets yours
ОтветитьEager Space is amazing! I especially like "You Suck at Space". It quite literally changed my outlook on life.
ОтветитьI have a question… I hope I word it to where you can understand and be able to give me your opinion,,,, ok here we go , imagine your in the ocean where your are 20 km over shore and can’t see land in any direction, how would you know how big the ocean is ??? . So isn’t this the same way as we can only see the observable universe??? So how can we know where we are in the universe??? We can be in a corner that’s a box’s
ОтветитьI have a question and I hope I can say it in a way where you can understand it ,,, here we go , ok if we were in a boat 20 km off shore , we cant see where we are in the ocean cause we can’t see land ,,, so isn’t this the same for us … we can only see the observable how can we know where we are ??? We can be in a corner in a box 📦
ОтветитьAs the Milky Way is moving in one direction,,, who says that we didn’t start from the opposite direction from where we are heading, are Milky Way could of when through another galaxy in the past that change are direction
ОтветитьI Googled "largest known star," just to be cheeky, and far as my preliminary scan of the top results deduced: everyone is on about UY Scuti, with articles going back some time, which may have once carried some validity; but there are also very recent articles. I do not doubt the statements in this video, however, because in case anyone's not heard- Google and integrity are not exactly synonymous. Just another blatant reminder to take most things with a grain of salt, and while non truths are not always lies, "I read it online" used to be just a cliche mockery of the naive, but today, it's a truth for a vast majority of us all. I guess.. just.. never assume you know something as fact until and unless you take the time to properly dig for yourself. ✌️
ОтветитьIs there an episode about terraforming the moon?
ОтветитьIf all universes are moving away from us, then do we understand the center of the universe?
ОтветитьFrasser..
. Would life be more likely to spread as a biome , rather than indivigual species.
.. life as a multi organism ( say deep within rock life forms ) spreading VIRAL like, even between galaxies.
.. no million yr civilisation necessary
.. life as a sort of contaminant ( sorry!)
I'd say the odds are high, for the non-military style ( non one species!) life leaking exspansion possibility
On the von Neumann probes being sent as far as possible before they can’t reach these places anymore. What if some civilisation decided the best way to colonise the universe was to seed life using their dna in as many planets as possible. They could have sent a probe to earth that started the process of life
ОтветитьWill starliner destroy ISS Monday?/Tonight
ОтветитьBut, there really is a bigger star 🌟
ОтветитьOk we talk about colonising the universe
What sort of food will we be eating
Supply of food
Got to be be no1
Or growing it
Is vy canis majorio a star or a sun
ОтветитьCan the biggest star woh g64 fall
ОтветитьWatt is the unit of power
ОтветитьStill no evidence for the dark matter theory. after 50 odd years and science still comes up with it´s magical solutions.
ОтветитьExactly were , how is it clearly discovered
ОтветитьCould you take Starship and turn it into a electro magnet to protect from solar radiation? Since it is made of stainless steel would it work?
ОтветитьGreat content: New subscriber here. Interesting ideas. One point I would like to say about Grabee aliens. What higher life form is not a symbiosis? We rely on the bacteria in our gut to digest our food; etc. is there any species that does not try to reproduce itself that is not extinct? It is an ecosystem that They are propagating. That is the biggest inhibiting of mankind’s travels through the solar system and beyond. We rely on so many things in our world that we don’t even realize yet, so what do we take along with us in outer space?
ОтветитьWhat is your definition of atmosphere? One proton mass per (cubic plank space, or per cubic light year? Or what volume is your definition?
ОтветитьWhat if we are the self replicating probes? Why does a probe have to be Mineral and not biological. The seeds for life (panspermia) was set in effect to explore the universe. Too many caveats to this to list here.
ОтветитьMy grabby aliens strategy is to have ai sterilize the universe to protect us against the dark forest
ОтветитьThank you for your excellent program and honest reporting! Unlike others who are clearly paid Elon musk propagandists!
ОтветитьIt is shocking with all the damage that Elon musk is doing to America and him cutting half of NASA’s budget and firing many scientists that he still has so many totally unaware fans!
ОтветитьElon musk is America’s enemy, not one penny of taxpayer money for SpaceX. There must be no taxpayer money for Musk!
ОтветитьThank you I am appreciative of your environmental activism. I would love to hear more about it.!
ОтветитьYou are a very good science communicator!
Ответитьthe universe isnt designed for aliens, unless teleportation is possible, or we find a way, to milk anti matter from space.
Ответитьa trillion on bombs etc, 25 billion on nasa and a chance to find answers to why, we are here, nasa needs some better lobbyists
ОтветитьGiven the argument for the observable universe to be only a small part of the total universe, how can the CMBR describe more than what is in the observable universe? That makes me question any assumptions about the total universe since almost all of it can never be observed.
ОтветитьQuestion: Why can't we see the opposite direction from the CMB? If every direction we look points towards the CMB doesn't that mean we are at the edge of the Universe, maybe, at the center of the Universe?
