Question - Why would any species want to convert or consume every resource in the Universe?
Fraser - They won't, but some of them will! And mention Borg from Star Trek that can travel 5 000 000 000 faster than the speed of light.

I have a better analogy, imagine you plant an apple tree to get some apples, but this tree need to grow 10 000 years, and even if it will grow, your future generations need another 10 000 years to even get information about successful apple growing, why the hell you will plant that tree?

Vulcan to win. Really enjoyed this episode & Q&A. I get ur disclaimer with physicists in a tissy-fit over the new JWST discoveries made daily blowing their theories & models apart that it was supposed to confirm and support.
If our models were correct, & the universe is about 13.8 billion years old (or much more), I find it difficult to hold onto a ‘grabby alien’ theory ever being a threat, even if they could obtain light speed or FTL speeds, it would need to be very high to be any realistic threat considering the incredibly vast distances & time it would take to travel these expanses of our viewable & unviewable universe, I have to still believe the biggest threat to humanity is, lets face it, is humanity itself!
Plagues, wars, and our unceasing effort to try and destroy our atmosphere or an ELE from an unnoticed chunk of outer space debris & a ‘Deep Impact’ scenario.
Hang on to ur goals & dreams mate if thats what makes you happy, I am in a similar processes of rejuvenating a couple of acreage properties myself now days. TFS. Cheers

I am certain Aliens travel at many times the speed of light by manipulating gravity and spacetime. I chuckle when I hear hear scientists with their 400’years of technology and science telling us what aliens with millions of years of science and technology can and can not do. At some point your education needs to inform you on how little you know and that you dont know what you dont know. There are 1000 stars within 50 light years of Earth and 46 of these are like our Sun and as old as our Sun. Our ability to detect aliens in these Stars is close to Zero.
When I hear Scientists talk about aliens and specially alien psychology I hit fast forward.
If the Earth is being visited by aliens, start looking in our Galactic neighborhood..

i need to find a lense that will bend all light such that at z+1( y=y(z+0) , x = x(z+0)-(1)) . this should result in taking all the light that hits the lense that is located at z=0 and adding it to all the light that hit the area z=0{x-1} not hitting the lense and traveling forward to z+1{x-1}. the area z+1{x=0} should be dark. as you can tell, i dont know how to describe this. can you hook me up with some vocabulary to describe a lense that can to this? it is not reflective, it is refractive in nature. know any lense geeks?

You have to assume that if there are many alien civilizations that send out self-replicating probes to explore the universe that at least one of them will design it in a way that will not recognize us as anything other than resources to use to make more probes.

If youre grabby aliens amd you go to another star system to colonize a habitable planet, a planet inhabited by an intelligent race that can only just get off the surface of that planet, and you want them gone. Well you don't land and fight them, you throw big rocks at them and poof like magic they dont exist anymore. You do a little clean up and bam planets yours

I Googled "largest known star," just to be cheeky, and far as my preliminary scan of the top results deduced: everyone is on about UY Scuti, with articles going back some time, which may have once carried some validity; but there are also very recent articles. I do not doubt the statements in this video, however, because in case anyone's not heard- Google and integrity are not exactly synonymous. Just another blatant reminder to take most things with a grain of salt, and while non truths are not always lies, "I read it online" used to be just a cliche mockery of the naive, but today, it's a truth for a vast majority of us all. I guess.. just.. never assume you know something as fact until and unless you take the time to properly dig for yourself. ✌️

Frasser..

. Would life be more likely to spread as a biome , rather than indivigual species.
.. life as a multi organism ( say deep within rock life forms ) spreading VIRAL like, even between galaxies.
.. no million yr civilisation necessary
.. life as a sort of contaminant ( sorry!)

I'd say the odds are high, for the non-military style ( non one species!) life leaking exspansion possibility

On the von Neumann probes being sent as far as possible before they can’t reach these places anymore. What if some civilisation decided the best way to colonise the universe was to seed life using their dna in as many planets as possible. They could have sent a probe to earth that started the process of life

Great content: New subscriber here. Interesting ideas. One point I would like to say about Grabee aliens. What higher life form is not a symbiosis? We rely on the bacteria in our gut to digest our food; etc. is there any species that does not try to reproduce itself that is not extinct? It is an ecosystem that They are propagating. That is the biggest inhibiting of mankind’s travels through the solar system and beyond. We rely on so many things in our world that we don’t even realize yet, so what do we take along with us in outer space?

Given the argument for the observable universe to be only a small part of the total universe, how can the CMBR describe more than what is in the observable universe? That makes me question any assumptions about the total universe since almost all of it can never be observed.

Question: Why can't we see the opposite direction from the CMB? If every direction we look points towards the CMB doesn't that mean we are at the edge of the Universe, maybe, at the center of the Universe?
